From previous owner: eBay Motors: mlhreh, Kokomo IN This is a great driving car that looks great, gets loads of compliments, and is very enjoyable to drive. I purchased it about a year and a half ago and have over $23,000 invested in it, but am selling to buy a sailboat (already found it - not interested in a trade). Let me give you a quick run down on the car. I've included loads of pictures so that you can get a feel for the condition of the car. I deliberately did not use any Armor-all on the tires or interior so that you can see her as she'll looks, day to day.
HISTORY: I purchased the car on ebay from a gentleman in Ohio as a numbers matching car. He had the motor rebuilt and it runs fantastic. The transmission is a 4 speed and it shifts like new with no issues. He had the car repainted and the color changed from Steel City Gray to Nevada Silver. The price of the car reflects the color change, as it would be selling in excess of $25,000 were it the original paint. I was told that the wipers worked intermittently. I haven't had them checked or done anything with them as I never drive it in the rain (always garaged) and I'm not a mechanic.
EXTERIOR: The car is a real head turner and gets alot of compliments everywhere. I was at Dairy Queen with my wife the other day, and had one man approach me to ask how much I would sell it for (I didn't even have a For Sale sign on it) and someone else in a new pick up stopped to take pictures of it with his cell phone). It looks very nice with no cracks in the fiberglass or scratches in the paint. There are 2 rock chips near the front bumper that I have pictures of. There is a small amount of rust on the chrome underneath the front bumper (see pictures).
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The previous owner had the engine detailed - and it still looks new! I had the car detailed earlier this summer, and the detail shop didn't even mess with it because it still looked sharp. They too complimented the car as one of the best they've had all summer!
INTERIOR: The leather seats are original with normal wear for 72,000 miles. The carpet looks new; the dash looks great with no cracks; and the basic interior looks very nice. The gauges are all functional except for the clock which works intermittently. The tilt wheel works as do the power windows.
THINGS I'VE DONE: The car has had an alignment and new tires and tracks great. The air conditioner system has been fully charged and blows cold air and the compressor is new. The engine has been tuned and runs strong. I had FlowMasters put on and it sounds wonderful - throaty on start up, but you don't need ear plugs when you're driving it.
WHY AM I SELLING IT? I've had about 8 Corvettes that range from this 1971 to a 1999 - and I love them! But I recently got bit by the sailing bug and have found a nice 26' sailboat that I'm wanting to purchase (after I sell my Corvette). I believe that the Buy It Now price is a very good price for the car and that it is priced for a quick sell. Also, the car is sold 'as is.' If at all possible, please look at the car in person and test drive it before buying. I have purchased 3 cars off of Ebay 'sight unseen' and had them delivered to me with no problems. You might choose to do the same, but it is best to see it in person.
PAYMENT: Since I need the money to purchase a sailboat, I am not interested in any kind of a trade and will only accept cash or cashiers check.
