| Car history: |
| '69 Corvette with 350/350 horsepower L-46 engine. All numbers correct/matching. All original drivetrain. Original Muncie M-21 with original tailpiece, side cover and main body. Rare RPO A85 shoulder belts. Original Posi differential. Power brakes and power steering. Monza red with black interior. The only parts I know of that have been changed on this car are the alternator, starter, water pump, and distributor. Everything item with a number has been tracked and verified against "Chevrolet By The Numbers". Here is the history: I bought it from the original owner 4 years ago. He had installed a Mallory dual point distributor back when the car was new. I had trouble finding parts for the distributor so I installed one from a '67 that had a points-replacement type module installed along with an electronic ignition box. Easy fix- all you need is a '69 distributor. He had also done some creative plumbing in lieu of replacing the original very expensive fuel filter. Another easy fix. The first winter I had the car the engine was carefully pulled, disassembled and professionally given new rings, bearings, camshaft and new lower-compression 10:1 forged pistons to allow it to run better on pump gas. I also installed a new South Bend kevlar cluch. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the engine or clutch when it came apart. The bearings weren't through the babbit in any single place, the cross-hatch in the cylinders was bright as day and you literally could have eaten off of any single component. to be honest I'm almost sorry I pulled the motor, but I did. While it was apart I checked every single part number and came up with a 100% original engine. When I bought the car it also had incorrect factory side pipes which I replaced with a Corvette Central 2 1/2 inch aluminized system. This car is not a show queen. It has flaws. The seat foam is coming apart. The fan shroud is cracked. There are a few dings which I included in the pictures. I personally would not paint it, as I like the originality of the car in all its historical glory. All glass is original. I have the spare tire, owners manual, T-top bags, even the original battery came with it. The pollution control system is still on the car, but the pump does not turn so there is no belt. This car is an original L-46. All the numbers are correct. I have looked unsuccesfully for the tank sticker. It may be there but I haven't found it. I know quite a few "Corvette People" and I know you will be asking for documentation. I really don't have any. What I do have is a pretty nice old L-46 that is nice enough to drive with pride, but not too nice as to cause you to not drive it for fear of hurting it. It is also all there for anyone who wants to do a total original restoration. Documentation can be faked so easily that to me it's not even worth asking about, but I understand why it would be asked for. This isn't a flim-flam car. At 10 feet away it is flat out gorgeous. 53,865 miles from the odometer. Motor suffix code is V1031HWMay 12, 2010. |
