Engine details: Casting numbers on the block (4-bolt main), heads (camel hump), intake (116 high rise) and carb (holley 4555) indicate this is a 350 cid LT1 built in the late 1970s using new over-the-counter 'service' parts. This is the ZR1 engine bay, which was the LT1 motor with aluminium radiator, metal fan shroud, aluminium expansion tank, and big block starter (none were fitted to the LT1). Also fitted with stainless roller rockers, Hooker headers, and steel safety bellhousing.
Other details: The simplest way to think of this modified car is as a 1969 ZR1 (the L88 car with the LT1 engine) with the factory fender flares fitted (were supplied loose); the ZR1 and LT1 options were announced in 69 but not produced until 1970. The car features body details patterned after the famed 1968 Maglioli Le Mans L88 car that was campaigned into the early 1970s: rally red paint, white rally striping, fender flares, functional L88 bonnet, front bumperettes delete, and rear bumpers delete. Duntov's famed 1969 ZL1 white "mule" was identically prepared on the convertible body using the auxiliary hardtop (no s/s tips), which is how this car is completed. Corvette's ZR1 package included the LT1 motor with aluminium radiator and expansion tank and metal fan shroud (not on the LT1 car); F41 suspension (this one also has a rear crossmember reinforcement kit); 4-speed manual transmission (this one is tagged an M20) with positraction (this one is stamped AM [3.36:1]), and mandatory deletion of the A31, C50, C60, U69/79 options. This car is not equipped with the K66 (has HEI fitted instead) nor J50 nor J56 brakes standard on the ZR1; and is equipped with power steering (not available on the ZR1).

Car history:
California registration documents indicate that original owners Robert and William Post registered this vehicle in late 1967. The preparation of the car indicates that they campaigned the car in SCCA Club Racing in B Production category, which was restricted to open roadsters and convertibles. B Production was eliminated circa 2000 and likely this was the reason for its return to a road car, with the open side exhaust system removed and undercar system substituted (headers are date-coded around this time). Third party seller indicated health of the owner(s) forced sale. The car's build plate indicates it was originally Corvette Bronze with orange vinyl interior; original owners changed these to Rally Red and black respectively, and current owner has updated both.
