Car history:
2) Body/Paint/Exterior Trim: The beautiful body work on this car has been treated to one repaint in the correct LeMans blue (paint code 976) in the past. The panels are nice and straight, the fit and finish is as good, if not better than original from GM and the paint has a high gloss with very few imperfections. Chrome is nice condition with no pitting or rust areas. The original looking stainless trim and emblems are all straight and shine nicely. The added fender vent trim while not original on the '68 model, adds a subtle dress up to the car. Weatherstripping is in good shape and there are no leaks. Undercarriage and frame is nicely detailed with no signs of rust or problem areas.
Interior: The trim code 415 medium blue leather interior looks to be mostly original in consistent condition to a car with 53,000 miles. The seat covers do show some light wear, but are not ripped or cracked. The door panels and carpet are in excellent condition with very little wear showing. Dash is uncut, crack free and still looks great. All gauges are clear and in good working order with the exception of the clock. Even the factory AM/FM radio works. The only deviation from stock inside is the addition of a Vintage Air Gen IV system that utilizes stock looking controls, existing side vents and adds a stock looking center vent. From the cabin most people would never even notice the system was added. Manual window regulators work smoothly and there is no binding with the manual lock assemblies.
Engine/Drivetrain: Original VIN stamped and correct engine suffix and casting code (detailed below) L71 435HP 427 cubic inch engine has all its correct born with components. The engine runs excellent, with a hint of cam lope from the original spec solid lifer cam. Correct tri-carb intake and Holley carbs top off the engine and spent gasses exit through original cast iron exhaust manifolds. The engine is mated to a service replacement Muncie M20 4-speed transmission that shifts smoothly and quietly through all the gears. Out back is the correct date coded, AZ 3.55:1 geared posi-traction rear end to round out the drivetrain. While this car is a collector piece, it is also built to be driven and enjoyed!
Attention to detail: Wherever you look there is attention to detail. From the beautiful engine bay, to the clean and detailed undercarriage, the good complete interior and, straight and solid exterior, this car will not disappoint. It is a perfect addition to any collection for someone that wants a numbers matching L71 435HP Corvette that will perform well at shows, get attention at cars and coffee events without the hassle of having to trailer it everywhere you go. According to its Corvette C3 registry entry, this is one of 19 cars built with its configuration and options which makes for a very collectible car!
