1971 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

For consignment, a restored 38,161 title verified actual mile 1971 Stingray Sugar Scoop version of
the classic Corvette. Almost showroom looking, a not oft seen factory correct Brands Hatch Green
respray with a body matching T top and redone green vinyl interior. For 1971 a new resin formula
for the fiberglass was instituted to improve thy body finish, and it shows nicely on this sports car.
Some extra kick in the seat of the pants is under the hood with a built ZZ4 350ci V8, but purists fret
not, as the numbers matching engine and rear axle are also included with your purchase. Also, this
would be the second to last year for the chromed bumpers showing up on both ends of a Corvette.

Exterior
Brands Hatch Green, in a driver quality plus condition respray bathes the body of this shark.
A few minor faults in the form of paint chipping and spider cracks are seen but still looking just
great with chrome bumpers, and all brite work is like new. In 1971, fender flares were designed
into the body contours to reduce wheel-thrown debris damage. In the sides of the front quarters
are curved air vents with a Stingray badge. Egg-crate grills and larger squared front directional
lamps are noted and correct for this year, working in tandem with the hidden headlights. A nice
removable T-top in matching Brands Hatch green metal panels sit within a chromed framework with
nearly new supple rubber seals. Bright and shiny stainless trimmings are on either rocker and long
flying buttress B pillars work their way rearward and frame the vertical rear glass. On back are the
quad of round taillights and the split rear accenting bumper in chrome. 15 inch deep dish rally
wheels are on all 4 corners, and are wrapped by raised white letter BF Goodrich TA radials.

Interior
Two showroom condition green vinyl buckets, recovered and with new foams done by Corvette
America, sit within a sea of clean green carpeting, which has two black deep pile carpeted floor
mats. The center console and ascending panel works its way to the dash houses several gauges,
the shift lever, and an aftermarket AM/FM radio. Some textured green and black bezels and plenty
of gauges, all are extremely clean, are enough to keep a 747 pilot busy for hours occupy the dash
central and in front of the driver. A green vinyl padded armrest fits snugly between the buckets and
gives plenty of room for each occupant to share. The dash is near showroom, and a note to the
level of upkeep and care on this interior, the temperature wheels and lettering is still near factory
perfect. A large green carpeted storage area backing the seats is presenting very clean and
carpeting is in very good condition here as are the black vinyl bags for the removable roof panels as
well as the addition of 2 speaker boxes.

Drivetrain
Replacing the original engine, a 350ci V8, which will come with this car which was running when
pulled, is now a ZZ4 Hot Cam 350ci V8 engine that the consignor stated puts out 293hp to the rear
wheels, however no documentation is provided to back this up. This is topped with ported cylinder
heads and a ported intake to handle the 4 barrel carburetor and as a huge bonus the numbers correct
rebuilt factory carb is included. A numbers matching Muncie M20, (check the photos of the stampings
as the stamping denotes a July 30th assembly date and the car holds a scheduled assembly date of
January 24th), is bolted to the back. The rear axle weighs in at 3.70 gear ratio, (COA stamping
code), from 1969 and does a nice job of spinning the rear tires. Our consignor notes that the
original pumpkin is also included with your purchase. The engine has some bling added with
Edelbrock badged ribbed valve coverings, an open chromed air cleaner housing, and very little
corrosion or rust seen.

Undercarriage
Just as the topside impressed this writer, so does the underside. A nice heavy coating of black paint
is seen with patina covered floor pans and horizontal framing running through at equal spaces as we
go through the car underneath. Independent SLA type with coil springs are on front with all new
bushings in 2023, and for the rear, full independent suspension with a frame anchored differential
unit and transverse leaf spring and adjustable struts work to provide the ride. New 4 wheel disc
brakes with O-ring calipers and stainless sleeves bring this car to a halt, and the fully rebuilt in
September 2023 power steering helps you maneuver all the tight parking lots.

Drive-Ability
A quick starter, nice driver and handling to beat the band, this car is akin to driving a rolling work of
art. It is a head turner, and handles nicely and accelerates with plenty of power thanks to the built
350ci mill. Bias free braking, and an easy clutch for the 4-speed make driving this artwork a pleasure.
The heater blower was not working, the radio did not turn on and the horn refused to beep, otherwise
all functions were working as intended during my tenure behind the wheel.

A nice job overall on the restoration, clean nicely painted fiberglass, shiny bumpers and hidden
headlights as well as the curvaceous fenders and lines of the sugar scooper version of the Stingray.
