Car history:
2) This is a rare one with a rare combination of desirable options! It retains its numbers matching engine. Shows 77,xxx believed original miles on a very original car. Imagine the looks and smiles generated by this totally new body style in the fall of 1967!! It gets even more looks today! Back in its day, there was nothing else like it on the road! This example begs to be driven. Very responsive with the optional L79 350 Horsepower 327 and smooth shifting 4 speed manual. It runs cool with no signs of overheating. An aftermarket intake and carb are currently installed, but the original factory intake and Rochester carburetor are included. It has the factory high performance Double Hump heads.
Run this convertible through the gears and relive the memories of warm summer nights and burbling exhausts. This car runs and drives very well, and it rides smoother than most early Corvettes, as it has an advanced composite rear spring for improved handling, comfort, and performance. It also has high performance, adjustable rear strut rods, so you can fine tune the rear suspension.
Throttle response is instant due to the 11.0 to 1 compression ratio produced by the optional L79 327/350 motor. The factory instruments and lights function properly. Headlamps raise and lower by vacuum as designed. The folding top is in good condition and has recently been adjusted for better fit with a clear rear window. We just redid the rear wheel bearings, have completed brake work, and completed a recent 4 wheel alignment as well as tune up. This car is essentially ready to go and enjoy!!
Correct, one year only door handles and buttons operate just as the famous Larry Shinoda designed them when he first drew the Mako Shark II that became the 1968 Corvette. The exterior trim and bright work are in good condition. The chrome bumpers are correct and shiny.
The interior is in very nice condition, and we just installed new correct 68 seat covers on new foam. The dash is original and in good condition as well.
The is a rare factory air conditioning equipped, L79 327/350hp, with the 4 speed convertible. This was very rare to have this combination of desirable options in these early chrome bumper Corvettes making this car more desirable and collectible as well.
This is your opportunity to own a rare Corvette convertible that you can drive and enjoy while it appreciates! The desire for these cars continues to grow and continues to drive the market value up on them. 77,031 miles from the odometer. BiN $32,900 but reached $25,100 (RnM) on February 3, 2018.
1) From its clean convertible body lines to the numbers matching 327-cid 350-hp V8 engine, this 1968 Corvette is the right car to be driven daily, or even restored. To help in that regard, this St. Louis, Missouri assembled C3 comes with the factory intake and Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. Factory correct (numbered) high-performance double-hump heads leave no doubt to its real heritage, making it one very desirable classic muscle car. Running the car through the gears is an absolute thrill. Under acceleration, the engine temperature operates normally, even in stop and go city traffic. Throttle response is quick and shifting is smooth. The gearbox feels robust and tight. Moreover, the classic Muncie shifter brings back fond memories of early Chevy performance. Touring around town with the top down and with factory power steering doesn't get any better. As mentioned, the numbers indicate its the correct factory 327-cid 350-hp V8 with 11.0:1 compression ratio. It is a head-tuner in many other respects too, and the throaty rumble of its dual exhaust is simply icing on the cake. These details are especially notable given the fact that it has been 47 years since the '68 Corvette rolled off the assembly line. The factory instrument cluster is totally operational. The turn signals, emergency flashers, taillights, emergency brake, power windows, brake lights and factory vacuum powered headlamps are all functional. As it should, this C3 features a folding convertible top in great condition with no visible damage or wear, or typical staining on the rear clear plastic window. The three small closed compartments below the folded top when in place are functional and one is key lockable. As you know, the third generation Corvette pays tribute to the 1964 Mako Shark II design of legendary designer Larry Shinoda. The car features spring-loaded finger plates, and separate release buttons, which were used only in 68. Chrome exterior trim throughout appears factory, and in good condition with slight wear due to age. The factory chrome bumpers are straight and in fine condition. This is a factory A/C car with original GM lap belts and black vinyl/cloth buckets and black door panels with chrome trim. Because its a factory correct, numbered car, restoring it would be a smart option for any Corvette aficionado. HT 327 CID 350-hp. Color codes from the trim plate. Built date is E06. $10,100 and running (RnM). March 18, 2015.
