Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful 1972 Corvette Coupe in excellent driver condition. This Corvette looks great, runs awesome, and is a spectacular driver that feels great out on the road. It is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combination of Ontario Orange (987) over Saddle Leather (421). This is the correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the trim tag pictured below. This Corvette is an original California car and exceptionally clean. We have it priced to sell and are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on C3 Corvettes is hot right now and on the rise, this is especially true for the chrome bumper cars from 1968-1972. Please peruse all of the photos, video, list of numbers, and other information below to get a true sense of how nice this Corvette really is. We purchased this Corvette from a gentleman in Indiana who had owned the car for about 15 years. About 5 years ago he moved from southern California, where he originally purchased the car. In fact, when we purchased the car it still had the original 6-digit California Blue Plate on it, which was only used from 1969-1980. With that information we know that this car was in California from the 1970's to the 2000's when the previous owner moved to the Midwest. This fact is noteworthy and important because western cars are not exposed to the harsh winters and harsh elements that Midwestern and eastern cars can suffer from. Vintage cars from western states, such as California, will not have rust and will be usually cleaner and in nicer condition overall. The previous owner also said that he installed a very high performance 383ci stroker engine in the car a couple of years ago with a mild cam. This gives the car a nice rumble and healthy tone; it is also blisteringly fast. Out of the hundreds of small block Corvettes we have owned this example is by far on the of the quickest. The transmission is correct and original with the last six digits of the VIN, 524012, stamped on the main case and pictured below. As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. Exterior: The Ontario Orange exterior is in terrific driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has fantastic gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. The body is very straight and both doors open and shut nicely. The wheels and center caps are in nice condition with a great finish and no curb rash on the beauty rings. The chrome and other bight work on the car looks spectacular. There are a few small imperfections and touch-ups around the car that were too tiny to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from five feet away. As one would expect from a California car, the underside is very clean and this Corvette has absolutely NO RUST ISSUES. The frame is totally solid around the key hole area in front of the rear tire and we have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield or birdcage. These are the most notorious spots for rust on a C3 Corvette. We have included many photos of the underside to show how clean it looks. This Corvette looks as good in person as it does in the photos. Window Date Codes Please note that ALL the glass on this car, the windshield, Astro Ventilation side glass, and even the pop out rear window are date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of June 15, 1972 (K15). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage. Windshield - UN - The U is July and the N is 1971 so this window was made in July of 1971, which is correct as it predates the body build date. Driver - LY - The L is March and the Y is 1972 so this window was made March of 1972, which is correct as it predates the body build date. Passenger - GY - The G is April and the G is 1972 so this window was made in April of 1972, which is correct as it predates the body build date. Rear - AN - The A is September and the N is 1971 so this window was made in September of 1971, which is correct as it predates the body build date. Interior: The Saddle interior of the Corvette is in fantastic condition. The seats look in person just as they do in the photos with no split seams or excessive wear. The carpet is also in great condition with no holes or rips. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The dash is in excellent shape with no fading, cracks, or sun damage. The door panels are in wonderfult condition with no cracks. A very high end and expensive stereo system has been installed in the car with a Sony CD player, iPhone connection, amp, and speaker box in the back. The whole installation looks very professional and tastefully done. This car has not been smoked in and there is no aroma of cigarettes at all. These Corvette interiors are not known to wear well over time and the nice condition of this interior is a testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has received over the years. The interior looks as good in person as it does in the photos. Mechanical: This Corvette seems to be in good mechanical condition. It starts right away every time, runs well, and is exceptionally fast. The car is an great driver that feels nice the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that it shifts well and the car performs quite well overall. The car runs cool and does not overheat. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean, detailed, and dressed up as one can see in the photos; the engine looks like a piece a jewelry with a polished aluminum intake, chrome valve covers and intake, chrome alternator, and chrome water pump. The brakes are responsive, but do pull a bit to the left under hard braking. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works; their operation can be viewed in the video. The blower motor for the heater and a/c works on all speeds but high. The horn works as do the indicators and power windows. The a/c and wipers do not work and there is a slight hesitation that could be tuned out of the carburetor. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with T-Tops out on a beautiful day. When the previous owner had the engine built he added some very expensive and beneficial performance items such as Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum cylinder heads, Edelbrock Performer EPS Dual-Plane polished aluminum intake manifold, Edelbrock carburetor, an HEI distributor with tach drive for a Corvette, and Hooker Headers. Overall Condition: Overall, this 1972 Corvette is in fantastic driver condition. In my opinion and based on our experience the Chrome Bumper cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now and out of those years 1969 and 1972 are the most desirable. The excellent condition, the built 383ci engine, and the beautiful color combination make this car especially important and difficult to duplicate. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased drastically over the past years. They are secure and wise investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort. BiN $22,900. January 8, 2016. |
