| Car history: |
| Bloomington documented, Silver/Black and Silver, 9,300 Miles. 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 427 390 HP (numbers matching). (2007 Bloomington survivor participant). Owned for 23 years & responsibly cared for. Could use a new paint job but not totally necessary. Engine has been rebuilt & balanced locally by a machinist with a degree in mechanical engineering (known for designing, building & the machine work involved in drag engines) transmission rebuilt, no casting numbers but correct gear box. Original equipment includes factory aluminum intake manifold, bell housing & steering gear cover. Numbers correct carburetor has been restored & refurbished by Ecklers in house experts. Odometer shows 9300 miles, however this is not documented. I have only put 3500 miles on the car in 23 years & the owner before me had it for 10 years & never drove it. The owner before that stored it at his Moms house while he was in Vietnam for two years. It is inconceivable that someone put 100,000 miles on it in two years. One can tell by pedal wear etc. that this is not at 109,000 miles. This car was inspected in (2007) as a Bloomington participant & the only questionable issue was the 1970 style flared rear fenders. The Bloomington judges ascertained that the rear quarters are original with minor aftermarket flairs. Our research shows this awesome hot rod to be one of the last produced in December of 1969 (Q tag-code). As for the production numbers of this convertible 427/390 the best you can do is prorate, i.e. (number of L-36 engines/ total produced that year) times the number of convertibles produced that year. Using that formula this car had an approximate production figure of 4,490. AMAZING for the price of a new Kings Ranch 4x4 you can have a very fast & reliable numbers correct, drop top stingray four speed with life time guaranteed stainless steel brake calipers. Restored this car could fetch upwards of 100 K our loss is your gain if you have the time & aptitude. 9,850 miles. $44,500. April 14, 2012. |
