Car history:
1) This auction is for a 1971 Corvette convertible with the LT-1 powertrain option. They only made 1949 vettes with this option in 1971 and less than half of them were convertibles. The car has passed the test of time with the help of climate control garages and only a few owners who chose to keep her original. The tank was lowered and the tank sticker was removed and preserved. The car does need paint. The car is numbers matching and original. The car has power steering and it works fine.
Body: The body on this car is in excellent NEVER HIT condition. The bonding strips are all visible in the right light, all the fender lips are nice w/out cracks. The fit on the panels are very nice with even margins-one of the nicest stock bodys I've seen. The front valance is even good. The paint is checking in some spots and their are areas that are showing bare fiberglass (see pics). The bumpers are nice originals (driver quality chrome) and fit very well. The glass is good condition with original codes w/astro ventilation.
Engine: The engine has never left its bay and the numbers match including the original Holley carb and winters intake. When you start it, it still pegs the oil pressure gauge at 70 psi. The engine runs like a top. The engine pad has the vin number and the CGZ for LT-1. The original TI ignition system is intact and works perfect.
Interior: The interior is in good original condition, with normal wear, the door panels have some armrest cracks in the vinyl, the seats are ok, the dash is nice with no cracks. The gauges all work except clock and are bright at night. The fiber optics work. The seat belts are in good shape and are original. M21 trans shifts as it should. The headlights and wiper door work very well, open and close quick. The convertible top is in good condition.
Frame: The frame is in amazing rust free condition. The front suspension is tight and in good shape. The rear suspension has been completely done.
Overall this LT-1 convertible is in excellent original condition with a no hit body. $38,500. 98,000 miles. August 19, 2012. Sold for $30,100 on December 10, 2017.
