Car history:
1968 Corvette Convertible, 55k miles, matching #s 327/350 hp, Muncie 4 spd, factory A/C, power windows, power steering, power brakes, telescoping steering wheel, luggage rack. I have owned this vehicle for the last ten years. It spent the prior 8 years in a storage building in RI with other classic Vettes, and prior to that was registered in Georgia (I submitted the Georgia title to title it in MA 10 years ago). Cosmetically, when I purchased the car ten years ago, the following were new: original color Silverstone Silver paint, top, rugs, and seat covers. Within the last three years I have replaced the top, added a factory stainless luggage rack, and replaced the tires. It has the original Astro Ventilation windows and 1968 “AG” rims (plus a spare). The motor, transmission, rear differential, and frame are all original. The paint is very good (one small chip around the passenger headlight door), the chrome decent, and interior good. Mechanically, the car was original when I purchased it, and while the motor ran strong, the car was feeling its age. Fortunately, the motor, transmission, rear differential, and frame were all original and solid. So, here’s a list of major items I have had professionally restored/replaced over the last ten years by Wild Bill’s Corvettes of Wrentham, MA and John’s Corvettes of Laconia, NH, none of which have more than 1500 miles on them. I have resto receipts totaling several times the asking price. I rarely drive the car due to heavy work load and a young family. Complete factory correct engine overhaul, Entire electrical system including all wiring harnesses, Entire cooling system including heavy duty aluminum replacement radiator, Rebuilt carb and new fuel lines front to back, Exhaust, Clutch, all u-joints, and rear spindle bearings, E-brake, all cables, and all brake fluid lines, Steering box and all steering components, Complete suspension with tie rods, ball joints, bushings, shocks, fiberglass rear spring, All vacuum lines (the headlights AND wiper door work), Fiber optics, Rebuilt speedo* and cables, Tires. All body and driveline mounts.
What the vehicle needs:
Window tracks – the power windows operate (the motors are rebuilt and strong), but are not smooth and not well aligned. Relatively small fix. Minor adjustment to the drivers door hinge (became misaligned when working on the windows). The car runs and drives beautifully and reflects the quality of work done on it. It shows well, but is not an NCRS car. It is a strong ‘68 and will only appreciate now that I’ve paid for all the work. While the speedometer has been rebuilt, the odometer has not been altered since I purchased this vehicle and I have receipts from professional shops to validate this, but I make no warranty for what happened prior to my ownership. I can vouch that critical components (motor, suspension, etc) appeared to be factory original from my best determination when I bought it. $29,000. 55,343 miles. Color codes from the owner. Built date is J31. June 8, 2010.
68,000 miles. Seen on www.c3vr.com on February 25, 2008.
