| Car history: |
This is a numbers matching car. I have owned it for 11 years now, and purchased it from a corvette collector, who inturn, purchased it from The collection of Ed Schoenthauler (Owner of Crossroads Chevrolet-West Chicago,Illinois). This is as far as I have tracked its history. The car was repainted in 2000, as well as, the motor was refreshed completely. The original color was tuxedo black, and repainted black. The original interior is still in the car, except for a carpet replacement in 2000. The mileage shown in the picture is actual. I have put approx. 10,000 miles on the car since I've owned it. I installed new rims and tires this year. I have the original rally rims and trim rings, center covers and red line bias-ply tires and they will go with the car. Keep in mind, if you look hard enough, you will spot little paint chips here and there. I added the side exhaust in 2003, with the painted covers, I've recently replaced the shocks and sway bars and leaf springs, as you can see in the pictures. When the motor was refreshed I installed a chrome alternator and a/c compressor to add some show. The car is an original air car. I did not hook up the old, dry rotted a/c hoses, and they need to be installed from the compressor to the evaporator to make the a/c system work. The clock in the car does not work, but who uses the clock? The transmission was rebuilt by Vetteran automotive in 2000. My wife and I recently drove it to Effingham, IL with another one of our corvettes, and it drove beautifully the whole 500 mile round trip. Being that the car is 40 years old, every once in awhile I see a drip of power steering fluid, which is one of the last original pieces on the car. When they repainted the car in 2000, during the bead blasting to remove the old paint, they found that the front left fender was repaired, all else appeared to be original and undamaged. As you can see in one of the pictures, the radio has been replaced with a newer am/fm cassette replica in 2000, with some additional rear speakers for better sound. The ignition system has been upgraded from the transistor type to the newer electronic type for better starting and power. The name on the license plate says it all for this car. When I had it dynoed, the car put down more than 450 foot pounds of torque!! This car was used for car shows, corvette club excursions, and Friday night cruises to show off the good looks and awesome sounds of the big block out of the side exhaust. This car does get your blood movin' and everything else for that matter! Intake cast number is 3937795, Block cast number is T04129LQ . Serial number on Block is 69S728006. 56,402 miles from the odometer. Built date is M28. Colors from the trim plate. November 29, 2008. |
