Car history:
2) Corvettes are always in demand. Pull up in this 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and you'll have guaranteed front row parking from the valet, and nobody will want to tangle with you at stop lights. Such is the Corvette's reputation. Better yet, this car still carries its matching-numbers 350/300 and a 4-speed manual gearbox, making it a smart investment, too. If that's your kind of extroverted fun, this is your car.
The paint was done fairly recently, and there's no mistaking the brilliant shape of the all-new Stingray, which was unlike anything else on the road. That lovely code 988 Burgundy paint makes this look like an adult's car, sophisticated and elegant, and you'll probably find that people just love the look. It's quite nicely done, with a brilliant wave-free shine and excellent fiberglass work underneath, which is critical with this color. Speaking of fiberglass, the finish on the car is good, with no signs of previous damage and work done by guys who were familiar with the material. Gaps are decent, about what you'd get if this were 1969, and it looks awesome going down the road. Chrome bumpers are a big plus for most enthusiasts, giving the all-American sports car some European flair, and aside from a few signs of age, the brightwork remains in excellent condition. There are no modifications, no cowl-induction hood, not even any pinstripes to detract from the clean look and elegant paint. For the money, this Corvette really nails it!
There are few upgrades inside, mostly because the Corvette really doesn't need any help. The seats carry reproduction seat covers, there are replacement carpets on the floor, and there's a new steering wheel in the original style. The door panels might be original, giving it a very OEM look and they show some minor wear that shouldn't make you worry. Gauges have bright, clear markings and the tach has a correct 5500 RPM redline for the 350 living under the hood. A later AM/FM/cassette radio is in the dash, but it's just begging for an upgrade, because you're going to want to spend a lot of time in this car, T-tops off, enjoying the road. The 4-speed shifter has the proper knob and lockout and the little plaque on the console gives you a few details about the engine's specifications, a neat touch from GM. It appears that the carpets in the storage area behind the seat are original, but in such an out of the way place, there's really no need for replacement.
Although the big blocks get all the attention, small block Corvettes are some of the best-driving performance cars you can buy, and they're a screaming bargain to boot! This car carries its original, numbers-matching 350 cubic inch V8. It makes awesome V8 sounds that are threatening enough to keep the kids in their Hondas at bay, and the dressed-up engine has a pretty correct look. Chevy Orange paint certainly helps, and a reproduction decal on the open-element air cleaner is a Chevy performance tradition dating back many years. Power steering and brakes make it easy to handle, and the exhaust system has a great sound that's neither too loud nor too gentle for a Corvette. The aforementioned 4-speed snaps through the gears with enthusiasm and it sits on beautiful Rally wheels with fresh 225/70/15 Firestone rubber. $28,995 (no longer available) on March 22 and 28, 2017.
1) This vette is in good shape for being a 41 year old car. It has a numbers matching (except carb) 350/300 hp engine with a 4 speed transmission. The car has t-tops with a removable back window. Just in the last year I replaced the tires and the battery. The fiber optics in the dash except for one light still work. This car does have some issues. 1-The odometer has been stuck on 80,000 since I bought the car. 2-The front end has been hit during the life of the car. 3-The interior needs some work (new seat covers, carpet, door panels ). 3-The wiper door works with the manual switch. 4-the temp gauge is questionable. Power steering hose needs to be replaced. 5-The parking brake needs work. The exterior has some scratches on the tail of the car and on the front fender. Overall this car is in good/fair shape. The paint is in good shape, but a good buffing or polishing would make a big difference. The interior could be replaced. The car starts, runs and brakes well. Color codes from the trim plate. Built date is K23. February 14, 2010.
