2) First of all it is not a NCRS show car. This is a very nice driver quality car but would take very little make it a show winner. It runs and drives fantastic just as it should. This particular Vette features a correct L46 CE block (over the counter factory GM replacement, usually done under warranty) rated at 350/350 coupled with 4-speed Muncie M20 wide ratio transmission and Hurst Competiton Plus shifter. It has the correct console plate also the working tach redlines at 6000 RPM indicative of the high HP engine. Has correct Aluminum valve covers apparently original, factory GM Aluminum LT1-style intake coupled with 650 CFM Edelbrock carburetor. Engine seems untouched as proved by the A-0-R original timing cover, the correct GM deep-groove pulleys and correct HP front balancer. It also has a Mallory electronic distributor and coil and refurbished exhaust manifold. Engine runs smoothly, exhibits lots of power, doesn't leave puddles in the garage floor and is ready to go on a long trip. Other features include posi-traction rear axle, 3.36:1, code AM, Power steering, manual brakes. Car has been well maintained over the years and has lots of new parts: recent exhaust, new tires 245-60/15 BFG TA white-letters radials, new fuel tank, new brake pads, new master cylinder and brake lines. Bushings, all front suspension rubber items appear recent. Vacuum system works flawlessly operating both the wiper door and headlamp in good condition. The back up lights work. Fiberoptics work as well as the heater and defroster. Car was born originally LeMans Blue and now has a 2-3 year old very nice Monza Red paint. It has new Chrome bumpers, new license bezel, new taillight lenses, new exhaust bezel and tips. Glass appears original with LOF stamp on the windshield and the "Astro Ventilation" on the sides. Interior is new: carpet, seat covers, foam, door sill covers. Door panels appear original. Dash pad is in great condition. All instruments, horn, etc work, even the clock and the buzzer... Miles show 80K, appear original judging the overall condition, but cannot be substantiated. Frame and undercarriage is in flawless condition with no signs of rust. All in all, this is a very nice and presentable 1969 Corvette in excellent mechanical condition, with lots of appeal. Three things would make this Vette a show winner. Like I said the paint is very good driver quality. It shines like new money but to show the car you will want to repaint it. The windshield has some wiper scratches as would be expected since it is 41 years old. Scratches are not that bad but to show the car replacing it would be a good idea. The weather stripping has aged. It's still fine for a driver but again to show it should be replaced. I have the original intake, carb and distributor that goes with the car. Please pay no attention to the Florida tag showing on the car. This car is located in Tennessee. 80,000 miles. March 15, 2010. 1) This corvette has been well taken care of, it runs and drives excellent and is not a rattle trap like alot of corvettes of this age. The body is in very good condition with no sign of previous accident damage. The paint is approx 6 years old and still has an excellent shine. There are a few blisters in the paint on the passenger side door and very few spider cracks in the paint. Not too noticable when out at a show. The wheels have new trim rings and are in show condition and the BF Goodrich tires are new. The chrome is also very good and show quality. The weatherstrip is in good conditon along with all the glass. The trim tag reads build date L15 paint code 976 and trim code Z04. The interior is excellent, with a mint dash, great carpet and door panels. The seats are in great condition with no rip or tear. The windows roll up and down fine and all the gauges work including the clock. The radio is an aftermarket unit AM/FM cassette with MP player plug. The undercarriage is in great condition, frame is solid, and all suspension parts work as they shoild. The headlights and wipers also work as they should. This corvette is equiped with power steering and manual brakes. The motor is a 350/350 HP with a CE warranty block (3970010) and I am not sure when it was replaced. The heads are the original double hump(3927186). Some upgrades have been done like Winters LT1 aluminum intake, Edelbrock carb, K&N air filter, Mallory electronic distributer and coil. Also recently replaced were the waterpump, thermostat, all hoses and new aluminum radiator. All the original parts were kept Rochester carb(07029207), intake(3927184), distributer(1111493) and radiator. This L46 motor is rated at 350 HP with 11:1 compression and does need to run on premium fuel. The motor is very strong and the 4 speed transmission shifts perfectly. Has a posi rear with 3.55 gears. This corvette is fast and a show winner. 80,169 miles. February 8, 2010. |
