09/29/2014 Exterior The Elkhart Green exterior is in decent driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has nice gloss and good shine. Often many Corvettes will have particularly chipped up front ends, this car does not. The underside of the front end is in good condition as evidenced by the photos. The convertible top is virtually brand new and shows no signs of wear. The rear window is perfectly clear with no yellowing or fogginess. The top itself operates well and is relatively easy to raise, lower, and latch down. The vinyl covered hardtop is in great condition and looks wonderful with only a few very small blemishes. The vinyl hardtop is much more valuable and desirable than a normal painted top, it also looks amazing with Elkhart Green. As with many C3 convertibles, the fit of the side windows is not perfect. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. The paint does show some age and has some blemishes as one can see in the photos so I would encourage anyone to view the car in person if possible. The two most noticeable spots are the on the left door by the mirror and behind the right rear tire; there are specific photos of both areas below. The frame looks very solid around the key hole as one can see in the many photos of the underside of the car. The factory original P02 wheel covers are in nice condition with a great finish and absolutely no curb rash. Interior The saddle interior of the Corvette is in terrific condition. The seats look in person just as they do in the photos with no rips, split seams, or excessive wear. We have included photos of the areas most prone to deterioration. The carpet is in very nice condition with no tears, holes, or major stains. This includes the rear carpet with is often neglected. The door panels are in good condition and are not cracked in the typical area where the driver rests his elbow. The dash is in excellent condition and is not faded or cracked at all. The radio in the car is a refurbished original 1972 Corvette radio so most importantly the dash has never been cut for and aftermarket installation. The car has not been smoked in and there is no aroma what so ever. Mechanical This car is in very good mechanical condition and everything on the car works. The mechanicals and the way this car feels out on the road are some of its strongest points. As one would expect with the modern crate engine the car starts right away every time, runs well, and idles well. The car drives terrifically; it is tight on the road and at highway speeds. There are no strange noises or vibrations. The transmission shifts smoothly. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. This Corvette has plenty of power and is very fast with 100hp over the stock engine. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos. The horn works as do all the exterior lights, all gauges (even the clock works), and wipers. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works correctly from both their respective switches on the dash and override switches. The headlights come up, but sometimes the right light can be a bit slow. The car does sits particularly low. The blower for the heater and a/c works on all speeds. This Corvette is an original a/c car from the factory and all of the major a/c components are included. The condenser and lines are still on the car. The compressor and brackets come with the so it should be relatively easy for the future owner to reinstall the a/c back on the car. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with top down on a beautiful day. Overall Condition Overall, this 1972 Corvette is in nice driver condition. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing and with the original engine included this car is quite correct. There are photos below of the VIN stamp on the engine block and transmission codes. In my opinion and based on our experience the Chrome Bumper cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now and out of those year 1969 and 1972 are the most desirebale. The originality, matching numbers, two engine, and beautiful color combination make this car especially important and difficult to duplicate. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased drastically over the past years. Pickup and shipping of the original engine is the responsibly of the buyer. We can help load the engine onto a truck, but be have no source for shipping it. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
