| Car history: |
This is a survivor car. I purchased the car from a friend in Tuscaloosa, Al. Black on Black, T-tops, L-82. The car is nearly all original and has basically been a daily driver since new. I purchased 6 months ago to restore as a Christmas present for my wife. We since sold our home and now have no room for the car. The car states it has a little over 105,000 miles and I would estimate that to be accurate based on the condition of the car. But, I have no way to verify that.
The engine has been previously rebuilt and runs very well. It has more HP than it did originally and is strong. I had a new Holley carb installed, new plugs, wires, distributor as well. It still has the original exhaust manifolds and it appears to still have all of the original exhaust system, except for the chrome tips.
The tranmission shifts well and hard. It may have a shift kit. It has a small leak at the engine to tranmission seal from sitting for periods of time. Both high beam bulbs are out and I have not replaced.
I had the head lamp system re-worked, but you still have to manually lift the lights up with your hands, but it will hold them up and close them.
The brakes are great and the tires are new. The steering system was checked out. There is some play on center and I was told there was something I could replace to stop that, but it was not a big deal to me and I did not address it. There is a small leak in the power steering system. The car has power steering and power brakes.
The interior: seats are great and appear to either be new covers or great originals. The door panels also appear to be new and are not either installed exactly right, or have come a bit loose over the years. The power window button on both doors does not operate the windows. The center console is loose, but the power window controls do operate the power windows. The aftermarket stereo system does operate. A couple of guages in the guage cluster do not appear to work, but the fuel guage does as well as speedo, tach, etc.. The dash pad is cracked in a few places. The car is equipped with air conditioning. However, the fan does not work and I have not had any of that checked out yet. Could be fuses as the car has been sitting for some time.
The body is excellent with no evidence of any accidents. It DOES need paint. I have a new power antenna that is not installed as my next move was to have the car painted, then install new brightwork.
The car drives out well and is a head turner. However, I purchased the car as I felt is was a good car to restore, not because it is perfect now. This is a great car for the money and will make a super Corvette when restored.
Thanks for checking it out. Price: US $7,500.00 |
