2) ORIGINAL 1969 BIG BLOCK – ORIGINAL 427/390HP ENGINE. Body and paint look great! Not perfect but very nice appearance. No 'orange peal' or 'fish eyes' in new "Riverside Gold" paint. Interior also looks fine. I am offering an opportunity to get an original numbers matching 1969 427 Big Block Stingray convertible which will only go up substantially in value. Get into a beautiful Corvette Stingray Convertible (I get numerous compliments everywhere I take it). You can drive and enjoy it today without waiting and without worrying about hurting its original 427 Big Block engine which you can get repaired at your leisure since it's currently installed 350 and 4-speed trans runs strong. Can go back to completely original if and when you want to later. My plan was to drive the heck out of it as a beautiful classic Stingray Vette convertible with side pipes and redo and re-install the original 427 cu in engine when I had more time. I love the relatively minor custom cosmetics better than original and have the fun of driving something with the best of both worlds- a custom with the option of converting to original with its original 427 Big Block motor without too much effort. Unfortunately for me the business climate has changed and I need the money for business. THE CAR: Cosmetically- the car looks beautiful inside and out. Great running 350 engine in the car with a newly installed 650 CFM spread-bore Holly carb which I purchased after a strong recommendation from a highly respected and well known Classic Corvette specialty shop. ENGINE SOUNDS GREAT! Probably partly due to the side pipes. This car is very healthy throughout- exterior, interior & mechanically. This is especially impressive in light of its' 41 year age- that's 61 1/2 in 'People years'! Previous owner blew his original numbers matching 427 engine which I insisted he include when I purchased it. I will either repair and use it myself, or at the winning bidders' option, for an additional $1,500. I will include it in this sale. The engine will need to be welded but is the original numbers matching 427 and includes all of the pistons. I purchased it from a Corvette dealer in the midwest with an excellent reputation and can probably still obtain documentation from him attesting to this. Also, perhaps because of its mid-west origins, there are no frame rust issues- this is a long term 'keeper'. The suspension is also in great shape and the tires have very few miles on them. It only needs minor things: a new top (I've seen them advertised new for about $350.), the windshield just developed a hairline crack (a new one sells for about $200). Here installed which I will include installed for an additional $200.), a radio, exhaust pipe covers and finally the break pulls a little to one side but is not objectionable. As of this writing the signal lights may also need to be checked. They all worked last week so it's probably something so simple that they may be working before the auction ends. It recently 'sailed' through a Pennsylvania state inspection which is good until May 2011. Although it is mileage exempt, from the looks throughout the car, it is very possibly accurate at 72,039 miles. Built date is C10 from the owner. August 20, 2010. 1) 1969 Corvette Big Block Convertible. We just installed a 1968 327 cubic inch from another Corvette. We have the original Big block engine from this car but unfortunately the block is cracked and needs to be repaired. The block casting number is 3955270 and the pad is stamped 19S704290 which matches the Vin number and the pad is also stamped T0926LM which indicates the car is a 427 390hp with a manual transmission. The car has fender flares on the rear quarters and the headlights have been glassed over and have been relocated to the grill. I have a front clip from a 1968 Corvette that is in need of some fiberglass work and a pair of used headlight assemblies which I would include if the car is bought for the Buy it now price. The car has a non original 4 speed transmission with a hurst shifter. We just installed a set of side pipes on the car but do not have the covers. All in all this is a solid car. The frame is solid and the windshield frame and birdcage are solid. This is an original big block car that needs a restoration. The car runs and drives and is a good restoration candidate. Colors from the owner. March 21, 2008. |
