| Car history: |
11/02/2013 Exterior The dark blue exterior paint is in presentable driver condition. The paint has a smooth finish and a high gloss. The Corvette looks great from most angles, but individual standards are subjective and I would encourage close inspection of all the photos and video as the paint does have flaws. The wheels look great with no curb rash and a great finish. There are no major spots or blemishes in the paint that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. I have done my best to accurately and objectively photograph the car and show all of the flaws, but some are too small or cannot be picked up by the camera. One should really view the car in person to get the best and most accurate idea of what the car really looks like. For the most part however, the car looks in person as it does in the photos with some blemishes, but nothing that really stands out from about ten to twenty feet back. The right rear quarter panel has been touched up and is a shade off the rest of the blue. There are also some blemishes on the rear deck lid. There are no rust issues with this car. The frame is solid with no rust in front of the rear tire around the key hole and there no rust visible on the A pillar around the windshield. Mileage: 37,200 miles.
Interior
The interior in this Corvette is in very nice condition. The seats are in good shape with no holes, split seams, or excessive wear. They are not worn through in the typical area where the driver gets in and out. Please note that these appear to be the original seats, not some cheap aftermarket replacements or covers. The carpet is in also in good condition with no major stains or rips. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The console and dash look good with no cracks, splits, or sun damage. The surface of the steering wheel does have some light cracking, which is visible in the photos. The door panels are in great condition with no splits or cracks and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The t-top storage bags are also included with the Corvette and pictured below. This car has not been smoked in and there is no aroma of cigarettes what so ever. The pedal pads are not excessively worn and show appropriate wear for a car with this mileage. Corvette interiors are not known to wear well over time and the great condition of this original interior is another great verification of the original mileage.
Mechanical
This Corvette seems to be in decent mechanical condition. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs well. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. The transmission shifts well throughout the power band. The brakes are responsive, but do pull to the left a bit. We have driven the car around town and it performed okay on the road, but we have not had the car on the expressway. The engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. All of the exterior lights work; the bights do work, but will not go on from the turn signal stalk. The turn signals work as one can see in the video as do the power windows. The aftermarket radio also works well and even the power antenna still works. With all of that said there is still work to be done to the car overall. There are some items on the car that do not work such as the power locks, which is a very common problem on C3's, cruise control, wipers, which are missing some components, blower, headlight vacuum, a/c, and horn. There may be other troubles with the car that I have possibly overlooked so I would suggest any perspective buyer inspect the car in person if possible. Most sellers would not be so upfront and definitely not as through with these issues, but in our attempt to be completely honest we must disclose them.
Overall Condition
Overall, this 1980 Corvette is in good driver condition and has a ton of potential. It is a great value and we have it priced to sell with all of its good and bad points in mind. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing and as one can see this car is very correct. It turns heads and gets a ton of attention wherever it goes. The value of these later C3 Corvettes has gone up dramatically in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector or the average enthusiast. Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort. |
