Car history:
The car was ordered from Libbey Motor Sales in Bryan Ohio in late May of 68. My sister-in-law acquired the car in the fall of 1991, with 85,914 miles showing, and it's been her baby for the last 20+ years. It's now displaying 92508 miles, less than 7000 miles in over 20 years. It's finished in Silverstone Silver with a Gunmetal Gray interior. We have no ownership history of the car prior to her acquiring it in 1991. I've checked as many of the "numbers" as I could and everything appears to be original to the car. Above is a photo of the engine pad showing the original stampings. I was unable to find the stamping location on the transmission but have no reason to believe it has ever been changed. The differential is stamped 1AV6468W which translates to a 3.08 posi from June 4 1968. The alternator is stamped 1100750 61A and dated 8D25, correct for a A/C car built in June of 68. The starter is stamped 1108338 and dated 8E21, also correct for a June 68 car. The original carburator comes with the car but it is currently running with a Holley in its place. After many years of attempting to have the original tuned and even having had it rebuilt, she gave up and installed the Holley. You get both with the car and you can decide which you want to use. We put the car up on a lift and the frame is absolutely solid, at some point the car was undercoated and although it's peeling now it looks like it may have saved the frame. Everything works on the car as it should except the clock. It was rebuilt back in the 90's and ran for a year then quit. Just like when it was new. Depending on your location you may or may not be able to listen to an FM radio station, no chance of getting anything on the AM band. Even the fiber optics work although some of the indicators are faint when lit. Here's the Corvette Order Copy, commonly called the tank sheet, removed from the original gas tank when it was replaced in 2008. She's owned the car for just over 20 years, put almost 7000 miles on it and has receipts for well over $12000 that she's spent maintaining the car. The oil has been changed at least once a year which averages to less than 500 miles between changes. The A/C blows cold, it's still an R12 system and about every other year she adds a can of R12 to keep it blowing cold. Two full cans come with the car. She had 4 BF Goodrich TA radials installed 500 miles ago (November of 2008), as well as a 4 wheel alignment done at the same time. Above is a copy of an invoice showing a new aluminum radiator, new fuel tank, new fuel lines, new calipers, new rotors, new brake lines and hoses, new U-joints, new rear wheel bearings along with assorted other incidentals. Passenger door showing some lumps, I think it may have been reskinned at some point in time. Nicks on the wheel arches, drivers side front, pass side rear and rear deck showing a little paint crazing. 92,508 miles from the odometer. Color codes from the tank Sticker. January 30, 2012.
