1969 Corvette Convertible GrndUp/FrameOff Resto NR. Noted as Rarest and Most Desirable. Most desirable because the Stingray won races for GM for an unprecedented 10 year run. Body damage to passenger door, looked like it had been opened into a fire plug (hole). Repair was not to my specs, so had it redone by a concours class FiberGlass Body Shop. Also had cosmetic damage to left rear corner. This repair was left acceptable for the time being as is. Remainder of auto has original 1 coat of CanAm White paint & original front chrome bumper. Vehicle stripped to frame. Frame was blasted, then "Hard Coated". Meticulously, everything replaced, repaired, rewired. All parts needing magnaflux where so inspected. For example the drive shaft was rebalanced and magnafluxed. Engine is a 350 cube, 350 horse original. Engine rebuilt by pro's that drag race at our Indianapolis Nationals 1/4 mile track. They know all the best stuff. Engine has been slightly tweeked to about 370/390 horse, they couldn't help themselves. Tranny/rear end pro-rebuild, sports a close ratio 4 speed Hurst shifter. Headlight mechanism, etc, everything rebuilt works to specs except the clock, when you tap on it, it tries to run, so the oil has simply varnished up and needs to go to a clock shop, cleaned and re-oiled, suggest using synthetic watch oil, which will not dry up. Transister ignition is cleverly hidden in the distribitor cap, an acceptable concours modification. Rubber bushings replace with silicone, not available in 1969. Original radiator recored. Original AM/FM work fine. New hinge pins in doors put in by body man, lined the doors up perfectly. The gentleman that did the suspension, drove the vehicle for the first 2,000 miles, looking for rattles and squeaks and all other fine tunning. He got them ALL! There is not one tinniest squeak or rattle in this Stingray! That is unheard of, in any Corvette. This vehicle on a flat road drives arrow straight with your hands off the wheel. The suspension is just right. There is no play or slop in the drive line. New dual exaust and correct period radials, completed mechanical restoration. Includes Original 1969 CORVETTE Owner's Manual. This Lady is balanced so well, you can put it into a broad slide and pull it out in any direction you choose! If I was younger I would put a roll bar in it and some numbers and kick some AC Bristol Cobra Ass! $40,000.00 invested. June 24, 2008. |
