Car history:
Outstanding Nut and Bolt Body-Off Restoration of this Rare and Sought-After 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster. Endowed with the desired powerplant combination of the monster 427ci/390hp L36 V8 engine and a proper 4-Speed Manual Transmission, this gorgeous Vette is impeccably finished in correct LeMans Blue Metallic (976), over a Black Leather Interior with Black Soft Top. Odometer shows 90,214 (believed to be original miles). Non-Matching number engine but correct block casting number and correct 'IL' suffix code. Factory Soft-Ray Tinted Glass, Power Windows, Power-Assisted Steering, Rallye Wheels with White Letter Radials, Telescopic Steering. New Aluminum Radiator (original radiator is included), New Alternator and Battery. The Original Hardtop is included, (it is in original unrestored condition). This Corvette sports an extremely tidy interior, tight and even body gaps, and an extremely clean undercarriage. Photo documentation, paperwork, receipts and service records.
This awesome Corvette has it all: looks to kill, power that never stops and an instantly recognizable and timeless design. That's the quote from the sales brochure for the redesigned 1968 Corvette. For 1968, both the Corvette body and interior were completely redesigned. As before, the car was available in either coupe or convertible models. A soft folding top was included with convertibles, while an auxiliary hardtop with a glass rear window, (included with this car), was offered at additional cost.
The enduring new body's concealed headlights moved into position via a vacuum operated system, and the new hide-away windshield wipers utilized a vacuum door. The door handles were flush with the top of the doors with a separate release button. Front fenders had functional engine cooling vents. Side vent windows were eliminated from all models, replaced with Astro Ventilation, a fresh air circulation system. In the cabin, a large round speedometer and matching tachometer were positioned in front of the driver. Auxiliary gauges were clustered above the forward end of the console and included oil pressure, water temperature, ammeter, fuel gauge, and an analog clock. A fiber-optic system appeared on the console that monitored exterior lights and there was no glove box. The battery was relocated from the engine area to behind the seats for improved weight distribution. This car has the motor of the 68 Corvette VIN 16332. BiN $54,950 (Ended) on November 5, 2016.
