| 1978 Chevrolet Corvette that we purchased at a local auction June 9, 2007 with the idea we would "spiff" it up and ride like the wind. Well, car buffs we are NOT. And we don't "spiff" either. We basically parked this baby in the garage and complain about having too much to do to ride like the wind. What I can tell you is this...it has T-TOPS, power windows work, power locks (don't work), after factory radio works, air-conditioning (doesn't work), and the odometer (doesn't work). There are some new parts in the engine that match the exterior paint so someone spent a bit of time and money on it but I couldn't tell you what was what. It runs well and has a nice rumble as you cruise. There is a small leak in the transmission and one of the tires seems to lose a bit of pressure over time. There are a few dings in the paint which I have tried to capture in the pictures. It is not perfect. But it is cool and it looks good. I always thought I would be thrilled to own one...now I just want to park my truck in the garage again. I listed this Corvette on ebay about a year ago and didn't like the offers. So, I am giving it another shot. The longest trip I have made in it is about 35 miles one way. I am confident it would make a long journey BUT it would be an uncomfortable trip (these things do not ride well). With all that said, you need to know you are buying this baby as it is with no warranties. None. Zip. I had my mechanic look it over when we bought it and he said it is a solid car. We have only had minor maintenance done and a few seals replaced. |
