Car history:
Numbers Matching Big Block, 4-speed, A/C. This is a very hard to find, numbers matching Big Block Vette with factory 4 speed, A/C, power steering, and power brakes. It even has the original Rally wheels. Corvette enthusiasts know that a numbers matching big block, with a factory 4-speed, factory air conditioning, power steering and power brakes is at the top of the Corvette food chain! The car is in the original Ontario Orange color. It appears as though the car was repainted about 5-7 years ago by the prior owner. The prior owner had this car for 23 years (from 1985 to 2008) before I purchased the car last year. The prior owner only put on 10,000 miles on the car. I have driven the car less than 500 miles. Everything works on the car and the car runs great. The car is very beautiful. The Ontario Orange color is awesome! But I want you to know that this is not a restored car. It is unrestored. But as unrestored Corvettes go, this car is in excellent condition. The car runs and drives perfectly. I have worked on a lot of cars and you can tell this motor has never been touched. The mileage is all original. The motor starts easily and runs great. It runs like you would expect a factory built motor to run -- very smooth. Tires are in like new condition. Comes with an original tank sticker. Factory Options (per the Tank Sticker which is included). The motor is the original numbers matching 454 cubic inch big block motor which is rated at 365 hp and a massive 460 ft-lbs of torque, M-21 4-speed transmission, Posi-traction rear end with 3:08 gears. The 3.08 rear end is great for freeway driving, especially since you have only four gears, Air conditioning, Power Steering, Power Brakes, AM/FM Pushbutton Radio. Below is a list of everything that I know about this car: The center console where the emergency brake handle comes out is cracked, which is very common for these cars. It is an inexpensive part to replace. The shifter is an aftermarket Hurst shifter, which was a common upgrade for this car and is still period correct. There is some paint chipping on the front of the T-tops. This item is probably the biggest item: Although it looks great, the hood is not the original hood. These cars were notorious for the hood flapper door to malfunction. The flapper door is the part which pops up for clearance for the windshield wipers. The prior owner replaced the hood with a hood from a 1974 Corvette, which extends past the flapper door, which allows you to remove the flapper door. This was a fairly common solution that Vette owners did to eliminate the flapper door and mechanism. So, technically, this car is not 100% original. To make it completely original, you would need to reinstall a 71 big block hood (which you can buy from any Corvette restoration parts store for about $600) and have it painted and installed. You would also need to reinstall the flapper door and actuating mechanism. The passenger mirror has been moved, which left a small ¼” hole in the passenger door. The hole is covered with a small piece of black tape. There is a small scratch on the front left fender which is approximately 2.5” long. It is probably too deep to polish out. Since it is not very noticeable, I would not try to polish it out. The paint is in excellent condition. However, there is a small rock chip on the front nose. It has been touched-up and is not very noticeable. Front and rear chrome bumpers are in excellent condition. There is some pitting of the chrome in the rear deck vents if you look closely. As mentioned above, this is not a fully restored car, so there are some things that could use some work. However, this car is a very hard to find numbers matching big block with 4-speed. In addition, this car has some very hard to find options (A/C. power steering, and power brakes). 56,596 miles from the odometer. Colors from the trim plate. Built date is L01. January 22, 2009.
1) 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 454. The vehicle is extremely clean and is loaded with a 365HP 8cyl. motor, block no. T0622 CPH. Includes 4-speed manual transmission, Factory Air, and an AM/FM Cassette. Odometer reads 57,000 miles. I believe this odometer is accurate, but I do not have any documentation. I purchased this rare beauty from a gentleman who had owned it for the past 22 years. Has always been garage kept and very well maintained. This T-Top Corvette has had one re-paint as far as I can see and understand. The paint job is 7-8 on a scale of 1-10. The paint has some nicks or road chips. It is not perfect, but what a rare find-big block muscle with factory 4-speed and factory A/C. The top of the console is cracked, which unfortunately is customary with this model of Corvette. The factory shifter has been replaced with a Hurst shifter that was common practice - way back when... July 19, 2008.
