Lot #5009 - One of 25 built in 1970. 350/370hp Special High Performance V8 with solid lifters, M22
Rock Crusher 4-speed transmission, F41 special heavy duty suspension, 4.11:1 posi-traction, J56
power dual pin disc brakes, complete in its factory color combination of stunning Monza Red with
black vinyl interior and recipient of NCRS 97.7 Chapter Top Flight Award 2013. Originally delivered
to Canada, complete with the GM of Canada documents validating the rarity and uniqueness of this
vehicle. With a production run of only 25 units in 1970, the ZR1 is arguably one of the rarest small
block performance Corvettes built. At the heart of the ZR1 concept was the outstanding LT1 350cid
small block, whose understated factory rating of 370hp and 380 lb./ft. of torque were the result of a
heavy duty 4-bolt main bottom end, forged crank, rods and pistons, 11.0:1 compression, free-
breathing heads, a solid lifter cam, dual plane aluminum intake manifold and 780cfm Holley 4-barrel
carburetor. The high-revving LT1 was joined on the ZR1 roster by transistorized ignition, a high-
capacity aluminum radiator, metal fan shroud and thermostatic fan, a Muncie M22 Rock Crusher
close ratio 4-speed, heavy duty power brakes and special springs, shock absorbers and front and
rear sway bars. Soft Ray tinted glass and the posi-traction rear axle were standard, but virtually no
other items from the option list could be ordered with this purpose-built machine. It is equipped
today as it was when delivered to Belisle Automobiles Ltd. Of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, they sold it
to the original owner Charles Miller, documented by the original warranty book. This ZR1 was the
recipient of a nut and bolt restoration, it is rare, it is desirable, and its factory built color is red. Built
on the 7th day of July, 1970. These vehicles were given the RPO code of ZR1 as Zora Racer One, a
tribute to the then current chief engineer Zora Arkus Duntov, the legend behind Corvette performance.
