Car history:
Take this very reasonably priced 1972 Corvette home and you can tell your
friends about how genuinely rare it is. Only 2550 Corvettes were painted War
Bonnet Yellow, but seeing how good it looks today kind of makes you wonder why.

As shocking as it might be, this unusual Corvette still looks fantastic while wearing
what might be its original paint. We’ve gathered several opinions, and the best
thing we can say is that there’s no better way to tell for sure than to come take a
look for yourself. What is clear for certain is that this car had the easy life, as it
shows none of the usual Corvette issues, and presents as a car that has always
been treated as something special. Gaps are good all around, there are no stress
cracks around the headlight doors, and the chrome front and rear bumpers are a
look that appeals to Corvette fans of all ages. War Bonnet Yellow (no, sorry, we
don’t really know what a War Bonnet is) is a nice change from all the red and black
C3s you’re likely to see out there, and combined with the black interior, it really
has a grand touring feel more than that of a raw muscle car. A rear-mounted
luggage rack adds storage space as well as some visual interest, and those quad
taillights are a Corvette tradition.

Inside, this Corvette feels quite authentic, which it should since the interior is also
highly original. The seats are still firm and supportive, and no upholstery kit quite
duplicates the detail you find in the factory-issued seat covers. You’ll note this one
offers factory A/C and the original gauges remain in great condition, including the
factory tachometer and auxiliary gauges in the center stack. The steering wheel
will look familiar to anyone who loves Chevy muscle, and an Alpine AM/FM/cassette
stereo head unit has been fitted in the dash and sounds great. Newer Corvette-
logo floor mats have been installed, and that’s surely part of the reason the carpets
are so well preserved. Overhead, the T-tops seal up well, and are easily removed
for an open-air experience that’s part of the Corvette tradition.

Power comes from the original, numbers-matching 350 cubic inch V8. The engine
bay appears to have been relatively recently detailed, as there’s bright Chevy
Orange paint on the block, beautifully refinished exhaust manifolds, and new belts
and hoses. Horsepower was down in 1972, but only because they changed the way
it was measured—it is pretty much the same 270-horsepower unit that you got in
1971. Underneath, you’ll find a heavy-duty TH400 3-speed automatic spinning the
original rear end, as well as a fresh dual exhaust system with X-pipe. It’s clean
and original under there—heck, you can still see part numbers stenciled onto the
rear spring! And it’s incredibly smooth out on the open road thanks to four 225/70/15
Goodyear Eagle radials on the original Rally wheels.

This is one of those cars where if you like the color, you’re going to love the car.
C3s are a blue-chip place to park some money, and while you’re at it, go out and
have some fun, too! Call today.
