| Car history: |
| This is a 1969 Stingray Corvette with its original numbers matching 435 HP L-71 427 Tri-Power engine and TH400 transmission painted in its original LeMans Blue. I purchased this car in 1996 and restored in from the frame up with the intent to have an awesome weekend cruiser/driver and not a 100-point show car. The Stingray drives great and has amazing street performance due to the very conservative 435 HP rating GM gave it in 1969. The car came from the factory with: 435 HP L-71 427 (iron block and heads), Tri-Power Holley Carb Setup (3 – 2 barrel carbs), TH 400 Auto, Side Pipe Exhaust, Powers Steering. The 427 big block engine was rebuilt in 2008 and I opted for a hydraulic cam and lifters to make it more drivable. I also added a serpentine belt system and replaced the pulley driven fan with twin electric fans. I still have all the parts needed to convert it back the original cooling setup that will come with the car when sold. The tri-power setup/intake function 100% and are the ones that came on the car from the factory. The transmission shifts solid and smooth and the 3.36 rear end is great for both cruising and performance. The interior has most of its original components although the door panels and seat belts are reproductions. The AM-FM radio is from 1969 and still works!!! I have two sets of T-Tops that will also come with the car. The speed odometer and the tach both work and the other gauge clusters function 100% although the clock does not. The seats have been reupholstered and the other trim panels are in great shape as the numerous pics I provided will show. The Hideaway Lights as well as the Hideaway Windshield Wipers function 100%. The car was taken down to the frame and after a rust inspection was sandblaster and repainted. The car has a new gas tank and sending unit. When the car was repainted, it was taken down to the fiberglass and no indication on the body or frame indicate it has ever been in an accident. The car also has its original date coded wheels that have been sandblasted and repainted with spare tire (possibly original) underneath the rear of the car. The car’s paint and body look great but are showing minor wear, chips, and cracks as the pics clearly show. The chrome bumpers are original although the two rear ones have been re-chromed. This is an amazing car to drive and has great “seat of the pants” performance. It looks and sounds great on the road and is a real head turner wherever it goes. I included pics of the block showing the VIN # as well as the LX prefix denoting 427ci w/ Tri-Power Carbs, 435HP, AT. 66,143 miles from the odometer. Color codes from the trim plate. Built date is M07. July 2, 2010. |
