Car history:
1968 C3 Corvette Coupe. Fitted with 78-79 454 "Rat Motor" engine #14015445 with Holley four barrel. Side pipes. Four speed transmission. 86550 showing on odo but odo not working so true mileage unknown. Dark blue with same colour rims and black interior. Leather seats. T tops. "Big Block" hood. Non-original radio. No power steering or AC. Tank sticker not visible or not on the tank so unsure what the car originally came with. No known history for the car except that it has been in California for the last five years. Car is complete with no noticable mechanical problems. Of note is that only half as many coupes were made in 1968 as convertibles so in theory the coupe is a rarer car.

The car is a real blast to drive but not for the faint hearted or weak. The engine fires up first time and once warn idles evenly with a pleasant rumble from the side pipes. Rev it up and it sounds even better but watch out for the sidepipes as although they have chrome covers they get very hot - no polyester pants please. The car is powerful and fast. I would estimate 350hp plus but I have no actual power figures. Compaired to my C4 which I know has 300hp this car has more power and will spin the wheels in 1st, 2nd and 3rd if you play the clutch right. Clutch is good and quite light to operate. With no power steering you need some muscle when parking or moving at slow speed.

Tyres are almost new. Front and rear chrome is good. Spare tyre and rim are good. Glass is all good with no cracks. The engine and transmission are very clean and show no signs of any significant leaks of any kind.

The car is strickingly good looking and the dark blue suits the cars lines. Body lines are good and panel gaps are good except for the hood that sits a little high and slightly off center. No door sag and ride hight is even at 27" back and 26" front. There are stress cracks around the head lights and hood, althought not excessive, and there is undulation in the body work where the front upper crossmember is attached to the outter body. Front left fender appears to have been replaced from the side vents forward to the lower front valence. (This could have extended to the glass above the crossmember - unsure) This I assume would be due to damage in this area at some time. All upper fender edges show signs of having extra fiberglass added to the inner fender at some time.

Door bottoms are good with no rust. There is a slight seperation of the outter skin from the door itself for about 12" on the drivers door. Weather stripping is old (cracked and torn in places) but servicable and some of the metal clips inside the stripping have rusted - looks like door rust but isn't. The covers that go over the rear towers where the body attaches to the frame are rusty and the plate where the radio antena is attached is rusty.

However, the chassis in all visible areas shows no signs of anything other than surface rust where the paint has come off. Chassis shows no signs of damage where the fender was replaced.

The rear susension has been re-bushed and I believe the u-joints have been re-placed. Front suspension - bushings etc - is older. Shock absorbers are newer items. Brakes. Pads and rotors are in very good shape front and rear and dont look very old. Front calipers look pretty new. Left front caliper is leaking onto the rotor which makes braking fun until the fluid is cleaned off. There is no fluid puddle under the brake when the car stands so the leaks is very small but should be looked at soon.

The radiator which I believe might be larger than the original and possible less wide, is partially held in place by wire.

The interior is in pretty good condition. There is a minor crack in the dash but otherwise the interior is good for it's age. All gauges look original and appear to work except for the speedometer that is very erratic and as noted the odo is not working. Drivers seat has a slit seam in the saet cushion. The heater controls appear to work but it is not possibel to turn off the heat so the car is always toasty warm even whenyou dont need it to be. The non-original radio doesn't work very well and should be replaced.
