Car history:
2) Bold factory color, numbers-matching L71 427/435HP cubic inch V8, and a four-speed... that's why we all love this first-year Stingray. This 1968 Chevrolet Corvette gets all the important stuff right and it's ready to rock without a second thought. Get in and drive! Safari Yellow is a great color to have on a big block 'Vette. Not only does this factory-correct hue manage to grab attention without being vulgar, but even the name suggests you're out to hunt down lesser cars. This one has bee exceptionally well cared for over the years, and so the yellow has a nice luster that accentuates the new-for-'68 Stingray look, which is particularly appealing with the big block hood. For many, the early chrome bumper cars are the ones to own, and the brightwork is nicely finished we suspect much of it is new. Top it off with a correct rally wheel package on Goodyear bias-ply tires, and this is the kind of car that will grab attention in even the most finicky Corvette crowds. Just in case this car's down-to-business attitude wasn't already apparent, the factory-correct black vinyl interior will drive that point home. The low-back buckets look inviting and the material is high quality. The carpets are plush, the door panels are new, and the dash is complete so this is a well-sorted sports car. The interior is not a complete midnight experience with the shine of the three-spoke wheel and the gearshift. The driver gets the original gauge package with the large speedo and tach straight ahead. In the center is a full auxiliary readout package, heat/defrost controls, and just below that is the original AM/FM radio. But one of the best parts of this coupe are the T-tops that easily remove so you can share this highly original interior with the world. Under the hood is the car's original L71 427 cubic inch V8. Yes, this a numbers-matching big block, but it's also a true tai-power monster with the correct IR suffix code on the block. The engine bay is nicely dressed with a correct triangular air cleaner and chrome valve covers over a Chevy orange engine block. It looks fantastic, fires up straight away, and the dual exhaust lets loose a ferocious roar. The perfect paring to this is the four-speed manual gearbox that allows you to take full advantage of the massive torque produced by the motor. But even as this is meant to be the ultimate performance street machine, it also has nice driving features such as power steering and four-wheel disc brakes. This is the kind of fast, original, and factory-correct Corvette that will be the star of any show you choose. It's a cut-above classic that is a rare find. 23,325 miles from the odometer. Color codes from the trim plate. Assembly date is L19. BiN $68,995. March 24, 2016. BiN $66,995 (Listing Ended by owner) ob December 15, 2016.
1) All original L-71 427 engine 435 hp tri-power car, lots of history and records, very low 23,320 miles with documentation. Appears never any accidents, excellent frame and undercarriage, never any rust, still has original F-41 rear spring with stencil! The original engine runs fantastic! The car runs and drives nice and tight and very strong. VERY solid, no rattles, just what one would expect from a low miles car. Just purchased this car from a customer who has owned it for over 13 yrs, he wanted fast $$ to purchase a new toy, so I supplied it, he purchased the car back in 1998 then from Corvette Center in Newington, Ct who had purchased the car from who we feel was the original owner right here in Conn. The car sat unused for a long time but was stored properly. The car had just approx. 17,000 miles at that time. So I suspect that makes it a two owner car! When he purchased it Corvette Center promised to supply the tank sticker, which he remembers they did as its stated on the sales contract (which we still have of course) but he has since lost it, he really was not aware of its importance. That's a shame, but the car quite clearly speaks for itself. Obviously he did not drive it much either. Corvette center rechromed the bumpers and repainted the car so the paint is not old, looks fantastic! It has a few scratches from use but no stress cracks at all. It really looks beautiful! The lines and panel fit on this car are just fantastic, one of the best C-3's I have seen. It's a 4-speed car, original M-21 trans, has a 4:11 rear, power steering and power brakes. I have used the car and put about 200 miles on it in the last month, it's a blast to drive! It draws a LOT of attention, it's a ground thumper! Yes, it's got all its original tags and its originally Safari yellow with the black vinyl interior. EVERYTHING works, even the clock! And yes, it is the original engine and coded T0711IR, very late built, vin#26063, block casting date is F167. All other components, heads, are correct. The center carb, #4055 is service dated 3061 and the front#3659 carb is also service dated as 2691, they were both replaced about 6 yrs ago due to too much build up from previous lack of use, the originals could have easily been restored but the owner chose to not tie up the car so I traded these new ones for the originals then, the originals I sold and are long gone. The rear carb is still original and is #3659, dtd 833. They all work flawlessly! Is it a numbers matching car. It runs fine using 93 octane fuel. The original radiator was recored a few years back, there are lots of service records indicating mileage stats since he purchased it until now. All the keys match and are correct, there are original keys. Both door locks operate smoothly and the key matches both doors and the ignition, the oval key operates the glove box and the spare tire lock. There is two sets of brand new NOS GM keys cut for it. Never used! The car runs nice and cool, even the cockpit stays nice and cool as all the floorpan shielding and insulation is still in place. Has its original shifter, still on the long throw. Radio works fine, all the gauges work fine. heater, vents, cables, all electrical functions, even the fiber optics are fine. Wipers are fine, as are the headlamps. The car has been maintained well, never abused or raced, always adult owned, never any modifications. It appears the original owner just wanted a rocket to show off! The entire interior is original and in very nice condition. EXCEPT, the seats were recovered back in 97 as he wanted a bit more cushiony feel (which he did not get, they are 68's!) new foam and covers. I still have the originals in the box the new ones came in! And the front carpet was replaced. He was NOT an NCRS guy, just wanted everything cosmetically as nice as possible was more important than numbers. The side pipes? Yep, he wanted them installed back in 2004, wanted more noise! (Yes, it sounds incredible). I saved the original rear valance so under car exhaust can be easily reinstalled if desired. I did not save the rocker moldings. There were no modifications made for the install, it all just unbolts if desired. It has BF Goodrich T/A radials on it only a few years old, they are raised white letter but that was turned inwards. This is a turn key car, ready to show, ready to drive and enjoy. A very rare find. The storage tray works fine and there are excellent lie new storage bags for the tops. Has its original owners manual. The car can also be driven anywhere of course. $50,000. 23,320 miles. Motor suffix code is T0711IR. $45,000. Color codes from the owner. Built date is L19. May 24, 2010.
