| Car history: |
1) Fully loaded 1971 LS5 Corvette with 454 BBC & TH400 Cosmetic: Body is in great shape, previous owner had it repainted a few years back (couple imperfections, but very sharp otherwise). Frame looks to be solid and undercarriage was coated to help prevent rusting. Interior is in good shape and seats are free of rips/tears. Mechanical:Recently rebuilt engine by previous owner (unfortunately not a numbers matching car). It appears the rebuild was rushed and a couple short cuts were taken. Recently starting knocking and appears to be a bad rod bearing from the right bank. Electrical could definitely use some work as well. Gauges worked fine until recently when they all cut out (assuming it has to do with the poor wiring). Would love to fix the car myself, I just don't have the time or money to do so. Definitely would be a great car for someone who wants a solid project car or has an already finished engine they want to drop in. A handful of new parts have been added since I've gotten the car a few months ago: - Optima Yellow Top Battery - Alternator - Flex-O-Lite Fan (Dual 12 Puller) - Rear calipers and rotors
Upgrades according to previous owner: - Weiand High Rise Intake w/ Holley Performance Carbs - V-belt Setup - Crane Cam Stud Girdle - Aluminum Lifters - Bored 0.080 - Griffin Aluminum Radiator - American Racing Wheels - BF Goodrich Radial T/A's - Still have the stock 454 hood (shown in pic) and replacement side & rear view mirrors that I can include if wanted Update: I misspoke about the rear calipers & rotors. The right side calipers were what was replaced Also, I was able to get a hold of the previous owner about some of the engine's internals - 0.060 over, not 0.080 - Forged Crank - Crane Cam with 0.652 lift - Heads are from 427 BBC
Important Update: Noticed today when I took the cars title out of storage, that there was a typo on it (the assembly location indicator on the VIN on the car is S for St. Louis, which is where all corvettes were assembled for 1971. They, however, accidentally put it as A on the title). Talked with the Secretary of State/DMV and it sounds like the error can be corrected, just can be 8-12 before getting the corrected title. Talking to a handful of people about the issue, it sounds like it's not as much of an issue for non-title/bill of sale states. But for title states, I would have to either start the process of getting it corrected or let the winning bidder go through the process so they have a title in hand and the corrected title gets sent straight to them (winning bidder can choose how they would like to go about it). My apologies for finding this so late in the process, I just want to have full disclosure about the issue before the reserve has been met. Sold for $12,655 on October 29, 2017. |
