8th of June 1998 Car received a Dutch licence plate indicating the restoration was completed. He drove it for a few years.
21st of January 2002 Car was sold by Continental Cars the Netherlands to Mr. Leo van den Hoek located in Pernis (Rotterdam) the Netherlands. Leo van den Hoek paid 30.000 nlg local currency (13.620 euros/ $20.000 USD). He owned it for a short while and in this period he overrevved the engine and damaged it. This resulted in the car parked outside for about 2 years, partially dismantled.
17th of June 2005: I (Tjesse Rodenburg) became the owner of the Corvette. Due to a Camaro restoration at that time, the Corvette was stored dry & safe for years to come.
Dec 2006: Pulled the severly damaged engine out of the car and found a broken connection rod and a lot of damage. Subject cylinder had two small cracks in the lower part of the bore and received a press-fit bushing/ sleeve. All cylinders bored to first oversize and honed. A new crankshaft, camshaft, forged-pistons, connection rods, stainless steel- valves, bearings and seals where installed by me. I also ported the heads. Minor modifications to the engine are done but I try to keep it as original as possible. Engine remains in the stand for years to come.
April 2011: Started with the full body-off restoration. Removed the body, stripped the car and things to follow are powdercoating of all chassis, suspension and loose metal parts.
October 2011: Muncie 4 spd gearbox has been fully rebuild and modified.
November 2011: Frame, suspension and all loose metal parts are mediablasted and powdercoated. Assembly is in progress.
January 2013: Rear differential has been fully rebuild and modified by me. |
