Car history:
2) 1968 Corvette convertible (hard top only, originally vinyl covered). Color code 976 Lamans blue with interior code 414, bright blue. Approximate build date is mid July 1968. Originally a 427 car. Engine is missing, 400 turbo in its place (original I believe). Rear has newer date, obviously has been changed. Needs total restoration, though I feel would be a very straight forward resto. Very old and very heavy undercoating on most of the under side and wheel wells. It looks bad, however, I believe when blasted, the surfaces will look good. All floors are in very nice condition. The outter body needs fiberglass repairs that I consider minimal (shown in pics). Frame has surface rust but would blast and paint with good results. There are no rust ISSUES that I see. Car DOES has power steering and power brakes. Seat frames will restore easily. I took carpet out to show ORIGINAL nice floors and inner shell. Windshield is broken. Dash and instruments look good. Clear Utah title. Color codes from the trim plate. Built date is L18. This owner removed the motor. Owner said: "The car came with a non matching 427 in pieces. i used it with another car. i do not have the motor. thanks ed". February 8, 2012.
1) I acquired this car from some debt that was owed to me so I don't know much about it but I will try to be as detailed as possible. This car looks like the perfect restoration project for any Corvette enthusiast. The car has been sitting for many years. I was told that it was last started about 5 years ago. It currently has a 350 with a turbo 400 automatic trans. I was told it runs but I have not attempted to start it. I did notice it had a holly carb, aftermarket intake and headers. It has a 427 Corvette block that has been boiled and bored 30 over with new pistons 10.5, rods, bearings, flex plate, 2 cams and a steel crank (all balanced). It came with a bunch of new parts to put it together that are included in the pics. I was told that it's the original motor but I don't know for sure so if you would like any additional info just tell me where to look and I will get back to you. I don't know much about the heads and what they fit other than they were intended to go on the 427. Comes with two sets of valve covers, I don't know much about them other than one set has a M/T. The soft top looks mechanically ok but is in rough shape. Included are a new set of springs, I believe the stock ones were changed because the 350 was lighter. Also includes a box of parts filled with odds and ends and a big thick assembly manual. It does have all 4 matching wheels and 2 new rally wheels as well. I would like to be as upfront as possible so if you have any questions please ask before you bid. 427 Block# 3916321, 350 Block# 3932386.
FYI the windshield is cracked but the door windows are just fine. Also the doors seem to shut nice and solid. The block is a 2 bolt and the casting date shows L27(then a space or a 0)7. It also has a stamp on the front that says HI-PERF TRUCK/PASS A. The rear has a factory sway bar that is in front of the spare tire that goes all the way across. The tube is 3/4". It also has two lower sway bars that meet up in the middle that are also 3/4". The yellow line of the tachometer starts at 5400 and ends at 5600 and the red line starts at 56000. Only 20% of Corvettes of this year came with an automatic transmission. February 26, 2010.
