We are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette model at an unbeatable value. The market on C3 chrome bumper Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is absolutely red hot right now and on the rise; one could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come. Please peruse all of the photos, video, and other information below to get a true sense of how nice this Corvette really is. While this Corvette is not completely numbers matching it does have a 3970010 engine block, which is a casting number that was used on Corvettes in 1969. The transmission is original and numbers matching with the last six digits of the VIN, 708539, stamped on the case and pictured below. This car rolled off the assembly line during November 22, 1968 (D22). As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Exterior: The blue exterior is in very nice driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has fine gloss, smooth finish, and deep shine. The wheels and center caps are in good condition with a great finish. The tires have about 90 tread left. The chrome and other bright work shows well overall for a driver. There are a few blemishes around car that were too tiny to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. This car has had some rust repair in the typical area on the frame and has some rust around the birdcage. We have included many photos of the underside to show how it looks. Window Date Codes: Windshield: AX - The A denotes September and the X denotes 1968 meaning the windshield was made in September of 1968. This is correct as it predates the body build date of the car. Driver: CX - The C denotes November and the X denotes 1968 meaning the driver's side window was made in November of 1968. This is correct as it predates the body build date of the car. Passenger: YX - The Y denotes October and the X denotes 1968 meaning the passenger side window was made in October of 1968. This is correct as it predates the body build date of the car. Rear: UX - The U denotes July and the X denotes 1968 meaning the rear window was made in July of 1968. This is correct as it predates the body build date of the car. Please note that ALL of the glass on this Corvette, the windshield, the Astro Ventilation door glass, and even the pop out rear window is date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of November 22, 1968 (D22). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage. Interior: The Black interior of the Corvette is in decent original condition. The seats look in person just as they do in the photos with some split seams and typical wear for its age. Please note that these appear to be the original seats and skins. The carpet is in nice condition as well with no holes or stains. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The radio works well and gets good reception. The dash is in good excellent shape with no fading or sun damage. The door panels are in good condition overall and are not cracked in the typical area where your elbow would sit. Mechanical: This Corvette is a good driver that feels nice the road. It starts right away every time and runs great. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 65mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving. The transmission does not pop out of gear and the clutch feels good. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. This Corvette has plenty of power and is quite fast. Also, the engine compartment is clean and detailed as one can see in the photos. There are some items on the car that do not work such as the horn, blower, clock, temp gauge, odometer, some exterior lights, and the fiber optics. This is an original factory A/C car, but some of the A/C components have been removed. There is some play in the suspension most notable on the highway and some other bugs with the car I'm sure so we would encourage any perspective buyer to look at the car in person if possible. Some of the fiber optic system works. The vacuum system for the headlights works correctly for both the headlight switch and the override switch under the steering column. The headlight operation can be seen in video below. The wipers work with the washer button and the door raised manually. A note on the fiber optic light monitoring system. We consistently receive many questions about the purpose of this system; exactly what it is and what it does. The sole and main idea behind the fiber optic light monitoring system is to simply confirm that all of the exterior lights, headlights, indicators, tail lights, etc., are working and to make the driver aware of a a burned out bulb. Each lamp on the outside of the car has an actual fiber optic cable the runs to an indicator on the center console. There are nine small indicators on the console and each has its own finer optic cable. When the bulb goes on the light travels through the fiber optic cable and illuminates the corresponding indicator on the console. If someone does not remember to plug the cable end into the lamp housing, does any work to the center console, or if there is a break in a connection or anywhere along the cable, that indicator no longer works. As one can image, over time this is very common. Overall Condition: Overall, this 1969 Corvette is in good driver condition. It obviously needs a bit of work, but the car has a ton of potential. We have it priced very well and with the issues in mind. The paint is the most expensive item to restore on a Corvette and the paint on this car looks great. There are photos below of the transmission VIN stamp and transmission assembly date. In my opinion and based on our experience the Chrome Bumper cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort. Sold for $16,900 on November 13, 2016.
