| Car history: |
1) Marlboro Maroon with Saddle Deluxe Leather interior - Code correct. LS5 454/390 hp., M-40 Automatic Transmission, 3.08 Posi Rear Axle (Economy) All original and matching numbers drivetrain. This car has every available factory option for a 1970 big block coupe. Documented with Corvette Order Copy (build sheet). Tank sticker still on the gas tank and clearly visible. This item needs to be retrieved. Rare is an understatement. Air conditioning (blows cold), power steering, power brakes and power windows. Tilt/tele steering wheel, audio alarm, U69 am/fm radio and C50 rear window defroster. White stripe tires on rallye wheels was the choice for rubber. Overall condition of the car is mostly original and by todays terms good driver quality. Car runs strong and does not overheat even in 80 - 90 degree weather. I have driven the vehicle at least 5000 - 8000 miles since I have owned it. I have taken it on several 400-500 mile trips without a glitch. The odometer does not turn and is showing 97,292 miles. All gauges function as they should with the exception of the clock. Oil pressure is strong and the engine burns no oil. Aluminum exhaust is clean and clear of any colored emission whatsoever. No fluid leaks to speak of with the exception of the odd drip of oil from the pan bolt. Engine compartment is very nice and mostly original. Carb, intake, exhaust manifolds, etc. All hoses and vacuum lines are new correct replacements. Headlight and wiper doors function without any problems. This car will pass any inspection for road worthiness and has no issues. I had the vehicle inspected two years ago when I brought it to Canada. I purchased this vehicle from Corvette Mike Midwest as a car that needed some TLC (not a project). I have spent close to 20K on it to bring it to where it is today. The car has had one repaint in 1988 - 89. I found the name of the painter and dates inscribed on the underside of the sill plates. The car was in Cinncinatti, Ohio at the time. It is not the most professional of paint jobs, but nonetheless the original color. Inside the doors is still the orignal factory paint. I cannot boast that this is a virgin body on this car. It has had some fibreglass repair in both sides of the front end and the one fender (passenger side) is built up. This is an old repair and in my opinion was poorly done (amateurish). On the upside, it was not done to conceal or hide anything but to fix the car after a collision. The paint on the vehicle is very presentable right the way it is. If an individual (or purist) wanted to take this vehicle to the next level, I would think that to remove and redo the body and paint would make this car outsdtanding. It has never been restored and is certainly worthy of doing so. The frame is very good and not rusted out by anymeans. Factory paint still shows in places and is litely oxidized in other places. Like I said never restored. Some of the rear structural support steel has some corrosion and flaking but is still sound in strength. The car steers straight and is very much a blast to drive. It should be....500 ft. lbs. of torque. The interior is very presentable with original door panels and dash. Original seat belts, console etc. Gas and brake pedals are original. The seats have been recovered and front carpets replaced some time ago. Power windows work well, rear defog works well, and heater and AC system controls work. Fibre optics are all functioning except for right front turn signal. This is a very nice original big block corvette with AC and a full load in basically survivor condition. First automatic corvette I have ever owned. I guarantee you I will buy another. Information is on the Corvette Order Copy - Date Order Received 70/05/15. Dealer 287, Zone 44. Never took the time to research and find out where the car came from originally. US for sure. Colors from the owner. Motor suffix code is T0606CGW. 97,292 miles. Built date is F18. November 11, 2008. BiN $42,750 (Ended) on July 22, 2017. |
