| Car history: |
Hi - Thanks for checking out my 73 Corvette. I purchased it 6 years ago. It has been at the monthly local cruise ins, car shows and weekend cruises. It had been restored prior to my purchasing it, and I in turn have done a number of thinks myself, see lists below. If you are looking for a 100 point show car or trailer queen this car is not for you. If however you are looking for a good fun summer cruiser to enjoy taking to your local cruise ins and this could be your car.
The restoration - approx 2 - 3 years prior to my purchasing it included; New nose – The seam for nose was blended and filled smooth (see photos) Urethane bushings, ball joints, etc throughout Replaced u-joints New headlight vacuum motors, vacuum lines etc. All new Lone Star stainless steel sleeved calipers. Replaced original heads (originals are not suitable for unleaded fuel) with fully ported Bow Tie Phase two heads – (I still have original heads I was given with the car) Edelbrock intake Edelbrock carb with electric choke Repainted – original color. Has some flaws but presentable. The lock cylinders for the rear alarm and passenger side door were shaved. New under hood heat liner New carpet Reupholstered seats New radio/cd Chromed shorty headers Dual exhaust with chambered mufflers - sounds awesome! New leaf spring In the 6 years I have had it, I have done: Aluminum Radiator with dual electric fans Changed to 15” front 16” rear American Racer Torque Thrust wheels New Cooper Cobra Radial T/A tires New seat belts New chrome master cylinder New Heater core New Chrome water pump New chrome alternator Adjustable fuel pressure regulator and gauge All new heater/radiator hoses etc New weather seals on T-tops, doors and hood MSD 6AL ignition Column mounted tach Replaced the original trans pan with polished pan and Lokar dipstick New Chromed Corvette logo valve covers Replaced pitted rear chrome bumpers New passenger side power window motor - (clunks a bit - needs adjustment.) Ok, so now the “what’s wrong” part. Like any car this one is not perfect. There are a number of things that have been on my to-do list for a long time that I just never got around to. As state above – some flaws in paint – but presentable - it is in the local cruise-in monthly. Scratch in passenger side of windshield. It is the original glass that I did not want to replace. It looks like at some point a windshield wiper lost a blade and the wiper arm scratched the glass. Not in the drivers field of view. (see photos) Drivers door spring needs replacing. I bought a new one but just never got around to it. Oil pressure gauge does not work - and since it has a 1 wire alternator the amp meter does not work.
The AC system had been removed. Some of the interior trim on t-top and back of seats is cracked.
The new seatbelt buckles (from Ecklers) did not fit through the small slots on the seat backs like the originals did, so they go around the seats.
