Car history:
Custom 1968 Corvette. The car was orginally modified in the 1970's using an Eckler's Corvette Sport Wagon kit. It still has an Eckler's sticker imbedded in the fiberglass underneath, and I have an old Eckler's catalog showing this particular kit without the long side windows in the rear. A frame-on restoration was done in 2012. The car was stripped to bare fiberglass (including all of the doors/jambs. etc. NO old paint was left on the car) and repainted using PPG base coat/clear coat. Paint is 9.5 -10 - a top notch job. The engine is a fresh GM Performance Parts ZZ572/720R crate engine. The original crate engine intake manifold has been powder coated silver gray, and the original valve covers have been changed from orange to black powder coat. The exhaust manifolds are coated high heat silver, and the 1969 style side exhaust pipes are stainless. GM recommends 110 octane, as compression is 12:1. This Richmond 5 speed has a 3:28 first gear and a 1:1 fifth gear. The rear end ratio is a 3:36 posi. This combination with the low first gear ratio allows intial performance like having a Muncie 4 speed and a 4:88 rear. You then can cruise in 5th with the 3:36's. Second through 5th gear ratios are very similiar to 1st through 4th gears in a Muncie 4 speed, so this particular Richmond trans is like adding a low 1st gear onto the front of a Muncie. A Hurst shifter is installed. All lights, horn, wipers, heater, tach, speedo, and gauges work as new. This car was orginally a no A/C, no power steering, no power brakes and manual windows car, and that is the way it remains - pure muscle! Many new parts installed including new main wiring harness and fuse box, new carpet, door panel, seat upholstery, seat foam, 4 new brake calipers, new master cylinder, new steering box, 4 shocks, heater blower, 4 new tires and wheels, custom aluminum fuel cell (factory gas gauge works correctly), new bumpers, mirrors, taillights, emblems, windshield, big block springs, aluminum radiator, shroud, weather stripping and on and on. 84,768 miles. $27,500. January 19, 2013.
