Car history:
1968 Corvette Project that was going under restoration. The last two things that happened, the body was being lowered onto the frame when the strap broke and broke off the front chip from the cowl. All the pieces are there for the front clip. It could be re-used. It also did damage to the rear wheel fenders. And second the owner got transfered and has no means to continue with the restoration. The following was done to this point, frame is restored, new lines and new trailing arms, had an early 1962 327 and the owner purchased a correct numbers 327 and heads and the motor was rebuilt, crank to heads, the motor is all ready. The motor has an new Edlebrock aluminum intake and carb. The transmission is the original 4 speed and has new clutch and pressure plate and bearing. All the tires are very good, soft from sitting I will fill them up. The color is black on black but was a green car by the trim tag. The car has all or most of the parts to assemble. The owner before took the car apart somewhat I don't know why. By the condition it looks clean with very presentable interior. The bumpers are all there and look good. I did not take all the pictures of the parts since I have boxes in my 45 foot storage trailer. The hood is a big block repro hood, we don't have the original. All the interior gauges and cluster are there.
HERE IS A SHORT HISTORY ON THE CAR, PURCHASED IN Sept 22/04 to restore a classical car for his son. Price paid $2900. Body off, bare frame apart and mostly unrestored. This was a complete car taken apart by the former owner who found how expensive it is to restore one of these old cars. He lost money selling it at $2900
1) Starts the restoration to be a car he would give to one of his sons for a moderate value C3. He sends out the frame, which sand blasts and replaces any areas with sections from a solid donor frame. It is nicely finished and then painted in Satin black. New trailing arms and other new parts and fuel lines and brake lines are installed, parts from Rickter Stystems, Dover Oh. About $2000 invested in parts and labor outside work.
2) Since the car is a classic owner wants a correct block, so he buys a block from Bob at Pacific Corvette on the West coast and ships it here. The block is sent to the NAPA machine shop and diassembled , cleaned and inspected, bored out to .030 over and .010 /.010 on the crack. and put back with a good set of heads. A new clutch , pressure plate and throw out bearing are added from Lima Clutch and Joint and new U joints. Estimated investment $2000 . Probably more but not less. 3) There is more items added like transportation, misc bolts and nuts, manuals etc not counted. Circumstances changed with the owner and it is not feasible to continue with the restoration, so it is being sold. It has a good and clear Ohio title. This would be a very nice first year C3 when it is all put together, especially now that the engine, drive train, frame are ready to build upon. With the original green and black interior it would be a sharp looking classic Corvette.
INSIDE THE CAR, seats both sides with tracks, both door panels complete , console, shifter installed, original steering wheel, center gauge cluster attached. All wiring attached.. Also on the car is the windshield wiper door and mechanism also attached to the car. 85,890 miles. June 5, 2008.
