| This wasn't a barn find, it was a garage find! I recently bought this car from a 78 year old lady (very good client) that had two corvettes covered and locked in her garage since her husband died 18 years ago. It has all the options available for that year: V-8 327, Automatic transmission, A/C, P/W, P/B, Telescopic steering wheel and much more. At the time of purchase I was informed that my clients late husband was ready to sell the car just before he passed away. I received a copy of the advertisement he was going to place in the local newspaper had he survived. The ad stated that the engine was original but had recently been rebuilt and had 5500 miles on the engine. The odometer read 66,000 miles. Here's what's been done since I bought the car: New brakes front and back (calipers, pads, lines & rotors cut, brand new steel belted radials with less than 30 miles on them, new vaccum lines. new gas tank with sending unit (I also have the original one), 4 new shocks, the radiator was removed, completely serviced with pressure test and replaced, new hoses, thermostat, new water pump, new valve cover gaskets, new 4 barrel carburator, new spark plugs & wires, new belts, new battery and all fluids flushed and replaced before starting the engine. The car drives and tracks straight at low and high speeds. The engine runs and sounds great. Headlight and windshield motors, exterior electrical lighting all work as they should. The exterior body and lines (gap) are even throughout the entire vehicle. The paint has only 1 small chip, there is no other body damage as you can see in the pictures. The exterior hard top is in great condition with one small tear (you probably would see it unless I point it out). The inside of the hardtop needs replacing. The interior dash top, front and lower are all in great shape no tear or damage. Both door panels are in good shape, windshield, door glass and glass on the hardtop are in good condition. The window for the passenger door operates but it's slow. The doors hang nicely, the exterior and interior handles work. I dont know if the soft top was ever replaced, but it looks almost new. The soft top is missing the rear pins that attach to the deck lid (estimate $30 for replacements). The interior carpet appears to be original. the drivers side has heel wear. This is a CA car with blue CA plates. 66,543 miles from the odometer. December 28, 2009. |
