Introduced for 1970 on the Camaro and Corvette, Chevrolet's potent new LT1 engine delivered
awesome performance with 370 factory-rated horsepower on tap. Based on a high-strength cylinder
block with 4-bolt mains and forged internals, the LT1 was built to perform with a hot solid-lifter
valvetrain and breathed deeply with free-flowing cylinder heads and low-restriction intake and
exhaust systems. Affectionately called The Mouse That Roared by Corvette chief engineer Zora
Arkus-Duntov, the 350 cubic inch LT-1 delivered big-block performance with great handling by virtue
of its much lower weight. Importantly, the LT1 often slipped under the purview of increasingly strict
insurance companies on the lookout for big-block premiums.

While lowered compression ratios brought gross horsepower ratings down to 330 HP by 1971,
performance was essentially intact. Just 1,949 of 21,801 Corvettes comprising 643 Convertibles and
1,306 Coupes left the factory with LT1 power for 1971. Today, these special high-performance cars
rank among the most enjoyable and sought-after of all classic Corvettes built.

Featuring great livery including rare (1 of 1,417), Trim Tag-correct Code 979 Bridgehampton Blue
paint over Code 412 Dark Blue upholstery, this 1 of 1,306 1971 Chevrolet Corvette LT1 Coupe was
produced during September 1970. Other features and options include a 4-speed manual transmission.
power disc brakes, power steering with a tilt/telescopic column, power windows, and a rear-window
defroster. Additionally, the suspension is new. Freshly inspected, serviced, and fully detailed, this
1971 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe is a compelling example of one of the best-performing classic
Corvettes ever produced.
