Fred built the car using a 1968 frame and a body from another car. He built the engine and fabricated many of he suspension pieces. Bob Johnson (Marietta) drove the car to many wins in 1972, won the divisional championship, and finished 3rd in the National Run-Offs. Interestingly, Fred had acquired some used parts from Greenwood that he thought might improve the car for this final race but, in fact, they didn't. Some of the notable finishes were: Gratton (1st) MIS (1st) Nelson Ledges (1st) Mid-Ohio (2nd) Blackhawk (2nd) Road Atlanta (1st) The car was then run by Dr. Scott Chrisman of the Ohio State Racing Team who qualified for the Nationals in both 1973 and 1974. From 1975 to 1978 the car was driven by Carl Trapletti (Pennsylvania) who ran both SCCA Regional/Nationals and Trans-Am (1975-76). It was Trapletti who added the Greenwood-style widebody and Guldstrand suspension. In the Trans-Am, Trapletti had two top-ten and two top-twenty finishes. In total, the car ran 26 National races and DNFed only three times. In the remaining 23 races it never finished worse than 5th, with 14 podium finishes. The car set several track records, including the A and B production records at Nelson Ledges, Grattan and Mid-Ohio. The current owner (Simeon Shortman) has raced the car in New England Hillclimb Association races as well as VARA, SVRA, HSR since 1988. February 27, 2009.
