9,300 mile 1968 Corvette Coupe - 427/435 - 4 speed - unrestored body. This car is a 3 owner car with 9,300 documented original miles. Original window sticker, a copy of the buyer's original order and the dealer sales receipt is available along with copies of all titles. The car runs smooth, stays cool and drives as new. It has never seen rain. Cordovan Maroon with saddle leather interior makes this an extremely rare color combination. This is the 2nd rarest exterior paint color in 1968 but no production numbers are available for the saddle interior. It is mentioned in the NCRS restoration guide as a special order. All original paint except for the GM L-88 hood which was installed in 1970. The car has original chrome, trim, lights and weather stripping as well as correct 1968 7" rally wheels, including a date correct Firestone red line spare which has never been used. The interior is 99% original. All fiber optics and accessories work except the headlight switch. The headlight doors open with the manual override. No smog equipment is currently in place, but the manifold tubes and a date correct small block pump are available. The original engine was removed and sold in 1970. A ZL-1 crate engine was installed in its place and remained in the car until 2003. A date correct NOM 427/435 engine from another 1968 Corvette was installed in 2003. The current engine still retains all original stampings and is from a 1968 Corvette built approximately two weeks prior to this car. The stamping shows VIN # T 0315 IR 18S 414022 this a late feb engine, the car is mid april. The 4 speed close ratio transmission (M21) is correct. Currently installed in the car is a 456 rear end, however a correct 411 posi rear also available. Original window sticker options include: 4 speed close ratio transmission, tinted glass, transistorized ignition, F41 suspension, 411 posi, 427/435 turbo jet V-8. 9,304 miles from the odometer.
