I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A GENTLEMAN THAT HAD IT STORED FOR 18 YEARS. THE FRAME ON THE VEHICLE HAD NO RUST WHATSOEVER. THE WINDSHIELD FRAME WAS SPOTLESS. THAT'S WHEN I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL. I HAD THIS VEHICLE COMPLETELY TORN APART, PIECE BY PIECE. I HAD THE PREVIOUS FINISH SANDED DOWN & SEALED. THEN I PROCEEDED TO HAVE 6 COATS OF BLACK BASECOAT BY PPG APPLIED. THE CLEARCOAT IS 2021 PPG. 4 COATS OF CLEAR WERE THEN APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN BAKED AND WETSANDED WITH 600 GRIT PAPER & PUT BACK IN THE BOOTH TO PUT AN ADDITIONAL 1-2 COATS OVER THAT. IT WAS BROUGHT BACK OUT & RE-WET SANDED WITH 1000 GRIT, THEN 1500 GRIT, THEN 3000 GRIT THEN RUBBED AND POLISHED. THE FOLLOWING PARTS WERE RESTORED IN THIS VEHICLE: THE ENGINE : WAS TORN APART & COMPLETELY GONE THROUGH, AS YOU WILL SEE IN THE PHOTOS. FRONT & REAR MAIN SEALS & OIL PAN GASKETS WERE REPLACED. A NEW OIL PUMP WAS THEN INSTALLED. THE UPPER INTAKE WAS TAKEN OFF & MEDIA BLASTED. NEW GASKETS WERE THEN INSTALLED WITH NEW ARP BOLTS. FRONT SUSPENSION : COMPLETELY TORN DOWN. UPPER & LOWER CONTROL ARMS WERE THEN SAND-BLASTED & NEW BUSHINGS UPPER & LOWER WERE REPLACED. ALSO, THE BALL JOINTS UPPER & LOWER WERE REPLACED. A NEW SET OF SPRINGS WERE THEN INSTALLED, ALONG WITH SHOCKS. THE INNER & OUTER TIE ROD ENDS WERE THEN REPLACED. THE IDLER ARM WAS ALSO REPLACED. REAR SUSPENSION : NEW SPRING & RUBBER STABILIZER LINKS WERE INSTALLED. BOTTOM OF VEHICLE : COMPLETELY WATER BLASTED & RE-FINISHED WITH PPG DP90 FRAME BLACK. INTERIOR : THE INTERIOR WAS COMPLETELY TORN DOWN. SEATS HAVE NEW FOAM, SPRINGS, COVERS, & HARDWARE INSTALLED. DOOR PANELS ARE NEW BY AL KNOCKS. CENTER CONSOLE WAS THEN REPLACED & A NEW CENTER PLATE BEARING THE BADGE "400 HORSEPOWER 427" ON IT. CARPET SET WAS COMPLETELY REPLACED. SEATBELTS WERE ALSO REPLACED, ALONG WITH DOOR HANDLE KNOBS AND HANDLES. DOOR GLASS WAS ALSO REPLACED - IT HAS A GREEN TINT TO IT. FRONT BUMPER : WAS REPLACED, ALONG WITH THE LOWER BUMPER ENDS. REAR BUMPERS : WERE REPLACED. TAIL LIGHTS : ARE BRAND NEW. MARKER LIGHTS : ARE BRAND NEW. HEADLIGHTS : THE HEADLIGHTS WERE TAKEN OUT & COMPLETELY RE-BUILT, AND THEN RE-INSTALLED. ALL VACUUM LINES : COMPLETELY REPLACED. NEW STICKERS & BADGES : HAVE BEEN APPLIED. THE CORVETTE BADGES ARE BRAND NEW, ALONG WITH THE STING RAY EMBLEMS & ALL 8 VENTS. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD A COMPLETE RESTORATION. THERE ARE TOO MANY PARTS THAT HAVE BEEN REPLACED TO LIST. I HAVE EVERY RECEIPT FOR ALL THE PARTS THAT HAVE BEEN PUT IN. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PEOPLE LOOK AT THE FINISH OF THIS VEHICLE AND SAY HOW UNBELIEVABLY DEEP AND SMOOTH THE FINISH IS, AND WHO CANNOT BELIEVE THE QUALITY OF THE RESTORATION - FROM THE INTERIOR TO THE EXTERIOR. ALOT OF PEOPLE THINK THIS IS A NEW CAR. 65,421 miles. April 19, 2008. |
