| Car history: |
| 1969 Corvette Convertible L88 Tribute. This is a very interesting car!! I am considering this car as a L88 tribute because the car is undocumented. I do not have the original tank sticker or the original trim tag. All the numbers match on this car. It was speculated by NCRS experts that the 427 block may have been remanufactured. If the car is a clone it was done right. All components on this car are typical to a L88 configured Corvette. Even down to the casting date on the block. Listed are some of the L88 options. Has L88 hood with air cleaner, Aluminum radiator, 427 cu.in big block engine, Aluminum heads, 850 CFM Holley carburetor, M22 Muncie Rock Crusher 4-Speed manual transmission, J50 power 4 wheel disk brakes, J56 special-duty brake system, F41 heavy duty front and rear suspension, G81 Positraction 3.70 ratio rear axle, K66 transistor ignition system, 6500 RPM redline tachometer, Radio delete plate, 103 octane warning label. Engine ID: 19S731063, Engine Suffix: T0828MR, Transmission: 19S731063, Rear Differential: 8871857 DM6 3.7 Ratio ZFA91569. All the right stuff!! Exterior is Tuxedo Black but shows signs that the car was originally burgandy. Paint is older but is in very nice condition. Shows well! Is not perfect has a few small nicks and some orange peel. A car like this could use a really high end paint job. Chrome bumpers are in great shape. Emblems are new. Inside leather upholstery is Saddle. Seats and carpet have been redone and are very nice. Dash and trim is all in very nice condition. Inside door handles and locks have a little pitting. Has a beige convertible top that is in fair condition. Some of the stitching has pulled apart. Top is also discolored in a few spots. Car also has the removable hardtop. All glass is in good condition. The wiper cover does not extented properly. Has to be done manually but does retact right. Headlights top right. The undercarriage is clean and rust free. Has no frame rot. The exhaust is new. Car has a new gas tank. Tires are new with just a few miles on them. It appears that the engine and transmission have been restored but I have no recipts or documents. Runs and drives strong!! A documented L88 Corvette in this condition would be worth in the excess of $400,000 in today's market. That is the problem. Somewhere during the restoration the door trim tag and the tank sticker have gone missing. I purchased the car from an Estate. I think that it is a real L88. The NCRS experts that I have looked at the car so far have not said it is not the real thing. It is all here but no one wants to take on the legal end of signing off that the car is real. I am selling as a clone to avoid any legal problems. I am a retired guy that just does not need any problem. Still trying to get any documents from the family. If I could get ahold of the right documents. I would never even think about putting this car on Ebay. Could have it sold on a few phone calls for almost 400K. None have turned up yet. You are welcome to bring any experts to look at the car. I also would be willing to pay a large commission to anyone that could document the car right. Motor suffix code is T0828MR. 92,712 miles. February 13, 2009. |
