I purchased this corvette apx 3 years ago from a person who owned it for 22 years. It was always kept indoors. There was no rust on the vehicle. I bought it with the intentions of restoring it. I stripped the car down, did not remove the body from frame because the frame was in excellent condition. I replaced or rebuilt everything mechanical to include: Proffesionally rebuilt orig. 327 motor and 400 tranny. Motor had ported alum heads along with alum water pump and intake. " I have orig heads, intake and exhaust manifold", all rubber suspension parts, all brake components, all 6 universal joints, had rear end inspected, "checked good" new headers, custom bent 2 1/2" exhaust with flowmaster mufflers, new starter, alternater, master cylinder, power steering pump, radiator recored, belts, hoses and have new vacume line kit still in bag. CAR IS IN EXCELLENT MECHANICAL CONDITION! Cosmetically I have new: carpeting, seat backs, center console, rear storage compartments, door/top gasket set still in bag, antenna door handles, deck lid conv top chrome brackets, plastic front grill inserts "3 peice" and front license plate holder. All the chrome is in good condition. Tires are goodyear ST's in new condition, The top isn't brand new but is in excellent condition with a "clear" back window, " it has never been expossed to the weather. The interior needs: seats recovered, "they are in decent condition" but previous owner had the interior "diamond tucked", door panels, " in decent condition but need recovered, dash panel needs recovered or replaced. Work should be able to be done for under $1000. The body is in good condition with no cracks, I primer the car with the two part resin sealer and is ready to be painted with the exception of a chip in the sealer around the headlight assembly witch I did re-installing the headlights. The previous owner replaced the orig hood with the newer style "ie.. no wiper door assembly, and had the rear clip professionally replaced with what appears to be a rearend from a 1970, " has square exhaust" instead of round. The job was done very well and you cant tell it isn't factory. The car runs and drives excellent, I have put apx 20 miles on it since rebuild. The car isn't a show car but is a very nice collectors item and good driver. 143,000 miles. Paint from the owner. August 20, 2008. |
