Car history:
Seven Hills Motorcars is exceptionally proud to offer this beautiful numbers matching 1969 L46 350ci 350hp Corvette Convertible in fantastic condition. It looks greats, runs great, and is an awesome driver that is ready to be enjoyed. The previous owner spent over $21,600 on this car since October of last year with receipts and records of all the work done pictured below, that amount does not included the purchase price of the car. This Corvette is priced to sell, always turns heads, and gets a TON of attention going down the road, there is no way it could be duplicated for anything near our asking price. The market on these chrome bumper Corvettes is red hot right now. The car is finished in the beautiful and highly desirable color combination of Riverside Gold (980) over Black Vinyl (ZQ4). This is the correct and original color scheme as verified by the trim tag pictured below. Please peruse all of the photos, numbers, video, and information below to get a true sense of how nice and clean this Corvette really is.
We purchased this Corvette along with an 1964 L75 Corvette from a collector and hardcore Corvette enthusiast. He stated that he had driven the car over 1,000 miles in the past few months. He also did an extensive amount of work to the car. Thankfully, he was very meticulous and kept very detailed records of everything that was done. There is an itemized list pictured below that is two pages long showing each item he purchased for the car totaling $21,643. There are also dozens of receipts that go along with the list. According to the previous owner, he was the third owner of the car. He purchased it from a gentleman here in Cincinnati that was the second owner and bought the car in 1982, a copy of the title from 1983 is included with the car. He was also a very attentive owner that kept good records on what he did to the car. He kept a log that was very detailed showing oil changes, maintenance, and repairs from 1985 to 2011 with dates and mileage readings. Included in that list is a line showing that the engine was rebuilt when the car had 95,731 miles. The car now has 103,225 miles so there should only be less than 8,000 miles on the rebuild.
Exterior: The Riverside Gold exterior is in excellent driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss, smooth finish, and deep shine. The paint on this car is less than a year old and still looks fresh. The chrome bumpers and other bight work on the car show very well. Both rear bumpers were just re-chromed and the front bumper is new. The wheels and center caps are in excellent condition with a nice finish and no curb rash. The tires are virtually brand new with less than a couple hundred miles. They are correctly sized 225/70R15. The soft-top is in great shape and the rear window is not yellowed or foggy. The top was just replaced this year and still looks new. As with many Corvette convertibles from this era the fit of the windows to the soft top is not perfect. There are a couple small and very faint imperfections around the car too small to show up in photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five feet away. As one can see in the many photos of the underside of the car, this Corvette is totally solid with absolutely no rust issues. There is no rust around the key hole area of the frame in front of the rear tires and no evidence of corrosion around the windshield or birdcage, the most common areas for rust on C3 Corvettes. Please also note all the new parts and bushing that are visible in the underside photos and how clean the car looks underneath.
Window Date Codes: Please note that the Astro Ventilation door glass is date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of Decemebr 1, 1969 (Q01). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.
Interior: The black interior of the Corvette looks superb. The seats look virtually brand new with no split seems, rips, or signs of wear. The carpet is also new and in great condition with no tears, holes, or major stains. This included the rear carpet which is often neglected. The dash and console are in nice condition with no fading or sun damage. The radio is correct, original, and most importantly the dash has never ben cut modified for an aftermarket installation. The door panels are in good condition and fit to the door well. The jack and jack handle are present and stowed correctly behind the passenger seat, which is pictured below showing. This car has not been smoked in and there is no aroma of cigarettes whatsoever. Even very detailed items that are almost always broken or shabby are not on this car; details such as the finger pulls for the rear storage compartment. Please also note that even the light works correctly in the center storage compartment as one can see in the photos and video.
Mechanical: This Corvette seems to be in very good mechanical condition. The car starts right away every time, runs well, and idles well. The car drives terrifically; it is tight on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, braking to stoplight, shifting through all the gears, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shifts well and does not pop out of gear. The clutch feels good. This Corvette has plenty of power and is quite fast with the extra power from the L46 engine. The indicators work as do all the exterior lights, interior lights, all gauges (with the obvious exception of the clock), and wipers. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works correctly with no effort or binding from both their respective switches on the dash and the override switches. The entire operation from both switches can be viewed in the video below. The blower for the heater works on all speeds. The dash lights work as one can see in the video. Some of the fiber optics work. This Stingray has solid lifters, which one can hear. The horn does not work. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with top down on a beautiful day.
A note on the fiber optic light monitoring system. We consistently receive many questions about the purpose of this system; exactly what it is and what it does. The sole and main idea behind the fiber optic light monitoring system is to simply confirm that all of the exterior lights, headlights, indicators, tail lights, etc., are working and to make the driver aware of a a burned out bulb. Each lamp on the outside of the car has an actual fiber optic cable the runs to an indicator on the center console. There are nine small indicators on the console and each has its own finer optic cable. When the bulb goes on the light travels through the fiber optic cable and illuminates the corresponding indicator on the console. If someone does not remember to plug the cable end into the lamp housing, does any work to the center console, or if there is a break in a connection or anywhere along the cable, that indicator no longer works. As one can image, over time this is very common.
Overall: Overall, tthis 1969 Corvette is in spectacular condition. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing, especially with rare and desirable models like this L46, and as one can see above this car is quite correct. There are photos below of the VIN and date stamps as well as the casting date of the engine block. In my opinion and based on our experience the Chrome Bumper cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now. Of those years, 1969 and 1972 seem to be the most desirable. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector.
The originality, matching numbers, comprehensive documentation and history, and beautiful color combination make this car especially important and difficult to duplicate. There is no way someone could restore a 1969 Corvette to this level of quality for anywhere near our asking price. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased drastically over the past years. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort. Color codes from the trim plate. Assembly date is O01. 3,221 miles from the odometer. BiN $33,900. October 8, 2015.
