| Car history: |
Two owner, numbers matching 1971 Corvette. It has a 454 motor with 365 horsepower. First a little history. I am the 2nd owner. I have owned the car for 3 ½ years. The original owner who is now in his mid seventies is a friend of mine & I had been trying to purchase the car since 1985. He finally broke down & sold it to me. With that being said, I know the integrity of the car. It is an all original matching numbers car with the exception of the vinyl hardtop which I purchased about a year ago to keep on the car during the winter months. The car has not been driven in the rain since I purchased the car. I have put approx. 3500 miles on the car. I mostly drive it on Saturday’s.
The car is fully equipped with PS, PB, PW, AC, AT, deluxe leather interior, luggage rack, tilt/telescopic, & am/fm stereo. The front left speaker does not work.
The convertible top is white & not in good shape. I purchased a new top when I bought the car that has the vin# stamped into the plastic rear window with the tag on it. I ordered it as close to stock as I could get. I have not put the top on & it comes with the car. I did not put it on due to the fact I do not drive the car in the rain & in the warm months, the top is never raised. The convertible frame functions well & is in great condition.
All the chrome on the car is original. On a scale of 1-10, I would say it is a 7. The paint is a re-paint the first owner did. The car was originally Sunflower Yellow & he had it painted a taxi cab yellow. On the hood on the RH side near the 454 number’s there is some small blistering. All the glass, mirrors & interior are original. The only thing on the interior that is not original is the interior door panels which I replaced when I purchase the car. The spare is the original tire but is not functional.
The Turbo Hydromantic 400 transmission shifts well & tight. When you engage the transmission from park to drive or reverse, it engages very tight as it should.
The motor runs smooth & strong.
When I bought the car I had all the belts & hoses changed out. I replaced with belts & hoses that have the correct numbers on them they would have had in 1971.
The car comes with the original window sticker, the original protecto plate, an original owners manual & bag & new emblems I was going to use when I repainted.
The car is a 10 foot car. 10 feet away it looks perfect. It has all the labels & stickers in the motor & storage area on it as it came from the factory. The car is spot on original. I have had other corvette owner’s take pictures of the interior & motor so they could duplicate the finishes & plating on their car when they started their restoration process. All the car needs is to re-paint it Sunflower yellow & it would easily pass the NCRS test. That was my plan.
The rear wheel bearings have been replaced & the top end of the motor has been freshened up with new lifters within the last 6 month's as well.
I have tried to disclose everything about the car but I am sure there are some questions or additional pictures you may want. Please feel free to call me at 336-669-4202 & I will do my best to accommodate your requests.
