| I get so much attention in this car! Everywhere I go, people are drawn to it. I have owned her now for about 7 years. Although I have restored a couple vettes for personal use, this one was already in great condition when I purchased her. I bought her from a manager of a large dealership in Houston. It was his personal car and he told me it was a recent frame-on restoration. It was painted at his Chevy dealership and it is a beautiful 3 stage pearl finish! You should see her in the sun! I do not think this is a matching numbers car but quite frankly that has not bothered me one bit (or anyone else gawking at her) because she is in great shape. The drive train is powered by a smooth and strong fresh 350 and manual 4 speed transmission. The car runs perfect. She just purrrrs down the road soooo nice. I am guessing the rear gears are 373s because she takes off strong and runs about 3000 rpms at 60mph. All lights/blinkers/electric/gauges operate correctly, even the clock runs. All chrome is very nice. Unlike many old vettes, the front “pop up” lights on this baby and the vacuum wiper doors actually operate correctly! Power steering. Brakes solid. Tagged and inspected. Have clear Texas title in hand. Always garaged kept. Never driven in rain. Pictures not altered in any way. Here are a few things I have done to the car: Added new tires and Torque Thrust wheels, Added an after market alarm with remote entry and proximity sensor. Purchased the high end Lloyd vette embroidered floor mats. Installed a smaller and very nice Grant steering wheel because the original was huge and bulky. Installed chrome valve covers and breather that have 350 V-flags emblems. Installed chrome shorty headers and glass packs because the flow masters were too quiet for me. Installed new front shocks. Had front end aligned and tires balanced. Purchased nice front black bra. Original A/C car but not functioning like a lot of older cars. Might want to install Vintage AC system. Dash looks good but I can tell it has been died black (over red). This is a common restoration technique. Seats are in nice condition but I think they are both driver seats. You really do not notice this until you go to store something behind the passenger seat and need to push it forward. The side seat lever is located on the inner side of the seat instead of outer side. That is the only difference. I never replaced it because the seat is in great condition and no one can tell the difference. Extremely nice paint job. At least an 8 out of 10 in my opinion. Done by dealership. There are 4 or 5 very very small paint chips. Small crack in lower front windshield but again, not hardly noticeable. So low it is hard to notice without pointing it out. Power steering has a small leak. Just needs some attention. Not a big deal. Works fine. Convertible top looks great. Too nice to replace but it has about a five inch area where the seam has come loose. Should be able to be sewn or glued back down. Cleaned the door windows but noticed some streak lines. Can’t tell if windows are scratched or just tint scratched. Has fm radio/cassette player but doesn’t turn on. Could need simple power connection checked but recommend newer CD player anyway. Since installing the glass packs, there is sometimes a crackling noise when I take my foot off the accelerator, especially after punching the pedal hard for fast acceleration.. I have had this checked out to learn that it is normal for glass packs in a standard. I still like the way it sounds now. November 11, 2008. |
