| One of the toughest looking bodies with one of the best motors in one of the best looking colors—need we say more about this gorgeous Corvette? It's numbers matching, it has its Protect-O-Plate and the restoration is fantastic! Let's get right into the body: these early C3 Sharks are some of the best looking Corvettes, ever. Code 976 Le Mans Blue, one of the best colors in Chevrolet history, covers the flat, straight and original panels. Door gaps, the hood gaps, the wiper door and the headlights all fit better and tighter than factory. Chrome pieces from the bumpers to the hood trim to the door handles and mirrors is all in excellent, as new condition. Side pipes are a welcome sight, and the sound is incredible! Uniroyal SSE redlines in 215/65/15 cover clean rallye wheels with new center caps and trim rings. The car's "WOW!" factor is off the charts! Settle inside and take a look around. That AM/FM radio pulls in stations with ease, which is rarely the case. All of the fiber optic lights in the gauge cluster work perfectly and look awesome at night in those super deep gauge pods. You're sitting on fresh ZQ4-code black vinyl seat covers, the carpet and cool aluminum sill plates are new, and even the visors are new. Open the right rear storage compartment and check out the factory Positraction, jack and tire pressure stickers still on the lid. Open the left compartment and find a new Optima red top—that's good news for a big block! The dash is in excellent shape, as is the center console. The T Tops are clean inside and out, and the rear window storage latch is still in the luggage compartment. Yes, that's right—the rear window comes out, and with the T tops off is a lot more like a Targa car than a coupe! We've got some neat paperwork with the car. Most important is the original Protect-O-Plate with the car's VIN, engine and transmission numbers. The original owner must have been security conscious as the tape ribbon with his name and address is gone, but the delivery date of Valentine's Day '69 has us thinking the car came from a warmer region! We have the original dealer inspection sheet from February 5th—the tech rushed through it so quickly he didn't do much more than add a few check marks and turn it in! You have to love the old days! We also have the original owner's manual, AM/FM radio sheet and tire instruction card—that's just about all you got in 1969! We also have a nice thick stack of receipts for the car...you'll appreciate that! Let's pop the hood, look over the detailed bay and talk numbers. That's the rebuilt, original, VIN correct LM code 427/390 in there under those new chrome valve covers. The motor was cast December 18th of '68. An original, correct 7029215 Q jet and 3947801 intake hides under the correct air cleaner. The resurfaced original 3789783 flywheel and new clutch kit spins in the correct 3899621 bellhousing. The original, VIN correct M21 P9T27B transmission follows along, stirred by the original four speed shifter. New chrome spark plug wire covers and braided housing wires get the electricity flowing while spent gasses spill into correct exhaust manifolds and the reproduction side pipes. There's a mild performance cam in the valley for an awesome sound without drivability headaches. Raise the car on a lift and inspect the thoroughly restored chassis. Those are all new, properly detailed steering components up front, new brakes all around and a new fuel tank out back. The original 3.36 Posi-equipped differential is out back, suspended in all new bushings and sporting a new leaf spring stack. The floors and frame are very clean and detailed properly. From front to back this is a car that few can argue with. Numbers matching big block power, the four speed transmission, a fantastic blue over desirable black interior and a top quality restoration all add up to an investment grade vehicle that is a blast to drive! It doesn't get much better than this. VIN pas certain car deduit de F06 et 273. 47,8145 miles from the odometer. Colors from the trim plate. Built date is F06. Motor suffix code in T1218LM. May 15, 2009. |
