Car history:
This is an unrestored 27,800 actual mileage SURVIVOR. This car has not yet been certified by the NCRS as we have not had an opportunity to take it since we purchased it, but it would make an excellent candidate for survivorship due to the originality of the car. It has an undamaged, original panel, unrestored body with original paint (not a repaint). We cannot find any evidence of over spray, tape lines, etc. anywhere on the vehicle. The color trim tag is correct for Pewter Silver (code 924). This is the LOWEST production color ever used on a 72 Vette, with only 1372 painted this color. All numbers match. The engine pad matches the original VIN number, 1Z37K2S525250. I have been told that the original build sheet is still on top of the fuel tank. This car has one of the nicer, untouched bodies we have ever seen on a steel-to-steel bumper Corvette. It appears to have 100% of all original fiberglass intact on the car. There are no sign of any replacement quarters, no cracked panels only minor and normal paint nicks. All bonding strips are in place on all four quarter panels, indicating an undamaged body. This car is not a rusted through or patched up vehicle. The paint is still in very nice condition. It is of nice quality, void of any major defects, especially considering that it is 37 years old. Overall the paint is still of showable grade and has a nice clean overall appearance. This car does not need a repaint. All of the chrome trim, bumpers, anodized trim, grille, pot metal pieces, stainless trim, emblems, etc. appear to be in unrestored original condiiton. Chrome and bright work are in excellent condition considering their age. The under hood is completely correct and original. The engine has been repainted and lightly detailed. All other componets are original and untouched. The car has several of the original hoses, original tower, clamps, color-coded vaccuum hoses, markings, decals, finishes, etc. The interior is in the original, unrestored condition with original seat covers, carpet, dash pad, instrumentation, console pads, door panels, etc. There are NO poor fitting, junk reproduction parts on this car. Nothing in the interior needs work; all the seat covers, door panels, etc. are in excellent condition. No rip, tear, etc. All the original instrumentation, gauges, tach, etc. work perfectly except the clock and radio. The wheels are the original GM Rally wheels, trim rings and center caps. Options include tilt steering wheel and power steering. The tires are older BF Goodrich T/A white letters with excellent tread remaining. The BF Goodrich tire dealer has told us that the tires appear to be original to the car referring the serial numbers. The vehicle is equipped with a new, correct style exhaust system, which is in good condition. Cast iron brake calipers have been replaced with stainless steel calipers. The car starts, runs, idles, drives excellent and strong, as it did the day it rolled off the showroom floor. It has no squeek, rattle, wind noise or fluid leaks. If you have never owned or driven a low mileage, unrestored Vette like this one, you will truly be impressed. It sure takes you back! No restored car can ever duplicate the ride and drive and overall look of an unrestored low mileage car. This car drives as close to a new car of its age as possible. May 4, 2009.
