This is a great looking and driving '70 convertible, (1 of 6,648 made) that is a show-winning car. The VIN indicates this is a St. Louis car manufactured in May of 1970. The entire car has been stripped and repainted (3 year process). All chrome has been replaced- including the restoration of the “post” style mirrors. Door hinges, minor mechanical (brake lines, calipers, etc.). The final shoot of the correct Donnybrooke Green code paint was completed in July of this year! The interior is the correct Saddle code vinyl. The car comes with the auxiliary Hardtop (1 of 2,556). The convertible top is in excellent condition, with some discoloration and scratches in the rear window, but no tears or rips are present at this time. All the molding has been replaced. Optional luggage rack is available, but I felt the car was too pretty to install it after re-doing the body. Numbers matching 350hp 350ci engine, 4-Speed Manual Transmission, close ratio (1 of 4383), and posi rear-end. It starts, idols, and runs like a top. No hesitation, no performance issues. The engine is as close to original as possible, and includes the proper shielding and chrome finishing touches as from the factory. No Air/No Power steering- all the power goes to the performance! Weather stripping for the doors, windows and tops was replaced during the semi-restoration process. Exterior door handles are clean. The side windows are the original “Astro-Ventelation” glass. A set of rally wheels with very good condition trim rings and center caps are mounted to the “wide Oval Red line tires”, which have about 1,000 miles on them. Seats have no tears, rips, or splits. Center console is in good condition with no cracks or other major issues. Dash pad looks great with no cracks or warping. Gauges are in overall great shape, although the redline is slightly faded on the tachometer. The clock does not seem to be working at this time. Steering wheel is also in good shape with no cracks or significant wear. The original radio is in the dash, and does work intermittently. During refurbishing a custom dashboard extension was fitted to the car, on the passenger side. This allowed for a Sony CD AM/FM remote control radio unit to be installed. Updated speakers were installed behind the original side kick panels, and 2 custom speaker configurations were hidden in the convertible top storage area. All of this is easily removed to return the car to factory condition- no holes or marks would be exposed. Correct GM seatbelts are also currently installed. Correct style loop carpet is present, and looks brand new. An extra set for floor mats allows you to drive to the show, and then swap to “showroom” condition mats. Car was painted by Mike, of Hammer & Dolly, in West Milford NJ. 103,869 miles from the odometer. October 30, 2008. |
