Vehicle comes from PA where it has been garage kept and well serviced. The car has gone through an aesthetic restoration that included bodywork/paint during the late 90s, some interior work and mechanical overhaul on the motor and transmission. Recently, the brake system has been overhauled with four new calipers all around. Also had NEW springs and shocks installed very recently. Overall a total of close to $15k have been spent on this Stingray to make it the stunner it is today. Since the last couple of years, the car has been shown at local shows and cruise nights, always gathering a crowd. Interior is in GOOD condition with only normal wear here and there. Carpeting is nice & presentable. Seats are nice with no rips that I could see, just some minor aging. Door panels presentable with some rips by armrest areas and sides. Dash is very clean. Convertible top is newer and has been professionally installed, looks great. Overall very presentable interior that cleans up very well.
Under the hood lies a lightly massaged and built 350ci motor (bored 0.030 over to 355ci). Added performance enhancements included: mild racing camshaft, Edelbrock Aluminum intake, Holley double-pumper carburetor, Accel Ignition coil. Full headers into chrome sidepipes and some additional internal upgrades for which I don't have all the details. Very nice street motor, nothing crazy. Transmission is a Muncie 4 speed, believed to be an M-20 with Hurst shifter handle.
Mechanically the car is TURN-KEY. Starts at the turn of the key and runs/drives great. Lots of power and great acceleration as you would expect an earlier Stingray. Easy to drive and brakes stop the car very well. Not much more I can say, just get in and drive her! I've driven it around town and on the highway and this car HAULS BUTT! Gears shift seamlessly and it's a ton of fun to drive, as it has some SERIOUS get up and go, although it's comfortable enough going cruising or in traffic. ONE OF THE NICEST AND TIGHTEST 71 STINGRAY CONVERTIBLE DRIVERS YOU'll FIND OUT THERE FOR THE MONEY.
Underside is VERY NICE with ROCK SOLID frame and floorboards throughout. VERY NICE windshield pillars and nice birdcage. This is a garaged PA car, and it shows.
Being a 40+ year old car, it is NOT perfect by any means. Paint shines up WELL and is FAIRLY CLEAN for a nice driver with only very minor imperfections like small touch-ups/couple of scrapes/some scratches/chips etc. from regular use. Not working: headlights (need vacuum lines replaced throughout), clock, horn, perhaps one other smaller gauge. Rear wheel wells have very light flares. Front grilles could use replacing. Speedometer works fine, but needle could use replacing. That's about all I was able to notice from my inspection. It may need a few other tiny things as any other used car, so please keep that in mind.
