Car history:
This well-optioned example is equipped with its original 427 tri-power big block engine rated at 400 horsepower. Proudly displaying a show quality Lemans blue finish on its outstanding original body, this Stingray is ready to enjoy and show. Factory options include the Muncie 4-speed manual transmission, power steering, power brakes, white convertible top, and the tilt-telescopic steering column. The glory years of Chevrolet's infamous 427 big block came to a close in 1969. Chevrolet produced 16,633 convertibles out of 38,762 Corvettes built in 1969. This was the last year of the nostalgic Shark gills on the fenders. Chrome trim inserts were also available. This '69 showcases excellent paint and body. It has been finished in its original code 976 Lemans Blue. The engine compartment proudly displays the heart of this Corvette, the 427/400HP big block. This number's matching block displays chrome dress-up along with original ignition shielding. Note the Harrison radiator tank along with factory power brakes and power steering. Remnants of the 400 horsepower breather decal remain. The original big block hood and wiper door assembly are in place as well. Factory options include power steering and power brakes. A little bit of driving comfort combined with big block horsepower was the name of the game when this car was ordered. With factory machine markings still visable on the engine pad, you can make out the "LQ" stamping, identifying this block as a 400 horsepower 3x2 bbl. Holley carbureted setup backed by the Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. The partial V.I.N stamping confirms this is the original block that this '69 Vette left the dealer's showroom with. The primary carburetor is in the center. The secondary carburetors are operated by engine vacuum (note the vacuum canisters). These Holley 2bbl. carburetors residing atop the factory aluminum intake are good for 400 conservatively rated horsepower on this 427 big block. 435 horsepower could be obtained with the more radical "solid lift" camshaft. Close inspection of the exterior will re-affirm the stated collector quality of this '69 Corvette. The body displays a professionally done code 976 Lemans Blue finish, matching the factory trim tag. The Astro-Ventilation side glass is in place, vertical window track scratches evident on the driver's side pane. The original windshield was long ago replaced with a new shaded unit. The windshield pillars are solid, indicitive of this dry climate kept Vette's condition. The original V.I.N. tag is still riveted in place.
The '69 Vettes factory chrome exhaust bezel's are complimented by chrome exhaust tips. Both the rear and front valences are straight and aligned. The exhaust tone sounds excellent. The white convertible top fits tightly and is in excellent condition. The rear plastic window is clear and the weatherstrip seals up well. The factory back-up lights are another option on this car. The center clear lenses illuminate when in reverse. The original tail lights show well. The rear bumper chrome is lusterous and the metal is straight. Optioned with the vividly colored code 411 Bright blue interior, our Corvette displays an excellent factory interior. The 51,894 miles are believed to be original. The condition of this car certainly reflects it. The console and dash are in very good condition. The factory gauges and controls are in place, however a custom audio Corvette cassette deck is installed in the factory radio bezel. The loop carpeting is believed original to this car. There are faint discolorations and stains present, i.e. faint remnants of a long ago leaking heater core on the passenger side carpeting. The ventilation system is functioning properly today. The Muncie 4 speed manual transmission shifts easy through each gear. The clutch and shifter work in unison. The dash is smooth and free of any cracks or distortion. The console is correctly affixed and the original console plate is intact. The door panels are in good condion as is the door weatherstrip. The metal underneath the doors is Texas solid, never repaired or patched in any way. The weatherstrip seals well. The undercarriage showcases an older restoration. The bushings were replaced. The frame is factory thick and shows no signs of any previous collisions or repair. The A-frames are straight and smooth and the steering rack is in good condition. The floorboards are excellent as well. The spare tire carrier is in place with the spare mounted. The sway bar bushings appear to have recently been replaced along with the end links. The original visors stay in place. The windshield chrome is straight, showing original patina along with a strong luster. This Corvette is equipped with the optional tilt-telescopic steering column. Our Vette is also equipped with headrest bucket seating. The console shifter plate shows signs of wear on the original black paint, the data plate clearly visible. An aftermarket AM/FM stereo cassette player is mounted in the factory radio bezel. The original bezel was not cut or modified to accept this radio. The original center parking brake housing shows wear on the original blue finish, however the plastic is solid, free of any cracks and mounted firmly in place. The emergency brake is functional as well. The factory fiber optic indicators are all in place. The bright light indicator is working as new. The headlights are completely functional as is the speedometer, odometer, clock, oil pressure, amperes, and temperature gauges. Although undocumented, the 51,894 miles on the odometer are believed original. The cars general mechanical and cosmetic condition certainly reflects the low mileage. Another indication of a well-preserved Corvette, the auxillary headlight vacuum controls are all intact. It was common for these to be broken or missing because of a zealous clutch foot or clumsy knees. The white convertible top frame seals up well. The material fits snug and shows good coloration along with a clear plastic rear window. It is easy to raise, latch down, and lower back into place. The handles and cables operating the rear top compartment are completely operational. The rear carpeted area shows minor staining. The storage doors are all working and the plastic framework is intact. Aftermarket speakers were installed, thankfully nothing was cut or altered to install them. The rear storage compartment lids are in exceptional condition. These plastic frames were usually cracked from age, this one is not. The pull straps are also still intact. The storage compartment liners are all intact as are the factory caution stickers. 51,894 miles from the odometer. Colors from the trim plate. Motor suffix code is T0328LQ. Built date is K10. March 12, 2009.
